God , i'm loving reading through the making of empire book. Something interesting i found which will put the debate about the passage of time in the bespin scenes finally to rest:

"Typical of George was his clever concept of showing the passage of time in Cloud City," says Ellenshaw, "by going from sunrise to daylight to sunset for the falcons departure."

So there we have it . Why the hell they recoloured everything in 2004 to make it look more like sunset when the falcon arrives just shows to me that the recolouring was never a deliberate creative decision because that screws up the original intent of the scene.

Hey you... stop spamming Adywan's thread with all this off topic stuff. What does this have to do with his edit?

MMWWAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would it be better to nudge the guys nearer to the centre?

What would be better imho would be to crop the image as on the rough from the storyboard, or like the original image Ady posted. I mean, ok it's nice to see more of the ship on the painting but it's a background detail that attracks too much attention and it leeches off the shot. A perfect background is an unoticed one.

Here's a pic of that scene from the making of ESB book along with the description:

A painted photo comp by McQuarrie shows the first attempt at a rebel hangar scene as planned and shot in England - but when Lucas found the shot unsatisfactory he decided to redo it.

Same compo and Perspective than at 6'53 from the beginning when 3PO enters to call Han.

Do you need a brand new oil matte painting ? You know...

... I also studied every ounch of music from them to rebuild the score in the most complete fashion ever made. Not till GGCTuK came along did anyone try this again. But as for quality, disc 1 and 2 of episode one are very good quality...

Yeah, not my preferate music, but your work on it is really great and shows Williams craft at its best ! Indeed, CD1 & 2 from TPM are the best pieces for sound. Right now I've been too much in Tomlinson's recording quality for tESB to appreciate it again.

... Just wondered since the begining: are all your unreleased sources lossless ?

most likely not, most of his sources are from game rips

Low bitrates then I guess ?

Long time I haven't listen those expended score but overall these unrealed sources have really various qualities, even when they have no sfx's.

The Empire Strikes Back IMPERIAL "AUDIOPHILE" EDITION - Restored & Remastered Score - J. Williams & LSO (Released)
Time

Thanks for your words.

I just wanted to say I built the liner notes, covers, etc... working on these one hour here, one hour there, and I've made my best to check for any faults at the end but I couldn't involve myself on this work as much as before. It would reassure me to know I haven't made too much faults (not only spelling but formulation). Any thoughts, go ahead (even if it's over). That said, the sobriety and the black and white have been volontary.

WHY we like the things we like (and why we don't that which we don't)
Time

I Like a virgin
Touched for the very first time
I Like a virgin
When your heart beats
Next to mine

I Like a virgin, ooh, ooh
I Like a virgin
Feels so good inside
When you hold me, and your heart beats, and you love me

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Ooh, baby
Can't you hear my heart beat
For the very first time?

... Seriously guys, are you psychanalysing yourselves ?

Info Wanted: Some questions about converting vinyl records to digital....

... Or look at anything that Steve Hoffman has mastered--he is able to derive a sound that is actually superior to the LP versions...

Having myself done the exact same thing I did for the "Audiophile Edition" with "Raiders Of The Lost Ark" (excepted I've not overlaid the tracks), allow me to say that passage from your post was funny to read. The Polydor once entirely pitch corrected and remastered blows the DCC hands down, if only one or two tracks due to the mixing. Hahaha ! :)

You won't be able to judge the potential of a recording if you ignore the EQ's. IMHO. POTENTIAL!... No matter how it looks to sound at first.

The amount of work that has gone into it has not gone unnoticed and is very much appreciated.

Thanks. I don't know how far you'll make the difference... Seems that no one has been able to spot any between the samples I posted here (or even the IE DVD) and the AE.

The whole set should be up in the week. I'll answer pm's in/during a week or two and then will surely vanish...

Btw, I used Foobar2000 to convert the files to flac. It seems that software makes my computer crashing (remember my computer problems ?)... It's just a miracle I could retrieve the project this time cause the Winlogon.exe file on my PC was not recognized + a couple Dll files looked to have been f*cked up. Fortunately someone good enough fixed it. I also used EAC to prepare the cue sheets before it crashed but I can't imagine the problem to come from it. I thought it could be link to my poor soundcard or something with Foobar.

Any clue ?
