media junkiei was wondering what trilogy/ film series everyone thinks could have a successful merge? the extent of my fanediting knowledge so far goes about as far as cutting and merging clips. i do like long films and for my next project i think i will do another merge. i have 1 trilogy in mind that has a pretty consistent theme throughout the 3 movies thus making for an easy merge of the 3 films. also it helps that i do not think anyone has made edits of these movies yet. so just for fun i would like to know what films everyone thinks can be merged? preferably trilogy,s that have yet to be put under the knife. the 1 i have in mind for my next edit will remain a surprise until i am ready to post up some screens. but another comes to mind just as an example. "feast" trilogy. these 3 movies are horror classics in my mind and despite the obvious budget drop on the 2 sequels i think with enough scenes cut these 3 could be merged into a 3 hr single film. so does any trilogy come to mind that you would like to see merged? it can be 2, 3, or even 4 movie series as long as they have a fair amount of likeness to be merged. another project i thought about is tenacious d. taking the pick of destiny and and adding skits from their hbo series into the film. many of the skits from the complete masterworks dvd,s could easily be cut into the movie extending the d movie into a longer funnier version. only hurdle i see with the idea is that the hbo skits are 4:3 and the movie is 16:9. so it would need a good conversion for it to work well. who else has a merging idea?

... And they had 'The Empire Strikes Back', the fifth of the four Star Wars films. He is fucking with us numerically, isn't he! "Children, count up to ten." "Four, five, six, one, two, three, ten". No, it goes, four, five, six, one, two, three… No, it goes: four, five, six. One... Two and three have not been made." "Two and three have not been made! What should they be?" "What should they be? We do not know. All we know is that there will be a big floppy character in it that goes, squawk squawk squawk... who needs a punch up the bracket!"

The guy who wrote it now does a podcast I listen to.
The podcast is about fantasy baseball, if that tells you anything about how successful the movie was.

Has anyone merged the 3 evil dead movies?

Better Grumpy than DopeyYes; Crappy_Logo_Productions did it sometime back in 2004/05, also a member named "mumbles" produced an edit combining II and III in 2008.

media junkieyep evil dead has been done and done again. matrix has been raked over a few times also. too bad there were no recurring characters kept in the "from dusk till dawn"trilogy. people have done "indiana jones" though i am not sure if there was a merging of those movies exactly. there have been a lot of edits with the "resident evil" series. yet i dont believe anyone has done a merging all 4 of the movies. that would be a pretty major merger. i have considered this as a project but the first movie really does not match up to the other 3 in terms of how it was filmed. the 3 sequel,s would blend pretty seamlessly. an edit combining the 2nd and 3rd " resident evil" movies called "biohazard" is done. i think it could be a potential fanedit merge project but would have to undergo some serious cutting to bring the 4 movies into a reasonable runtime. and the 1rst film would still feel a little oldschool compared to the other 3. this will be an edit i give consideration to. my next edit is set in stone and combines a trilogy in which all 3 movies have the same actors, same pace, same film technique, and the story line runs out flawlessly. a trilogy such as this is hard to come by and those factors have for sure been the driving force that made me want to do the edit. suffice to say it is not "pirates of the carribean" i can barely sit through 2 hours of pirates as it is.

Forget about that, I am extremely curious about the "possibility,s" for "possibilities" in the thread title. It has me super amused and I clicked on this thread for that reason and that reason alone.

Ha-ha, I was so distracted by the comma thing (which is repeated in other threads, by the way) that I didn't even notice that there shouldn't be an apostrophe either!
