Info: anyone done a 'Night of the Comet' preservation? (Released)

Has anyone made a good grab of the HDnet showing of Night of the Comet? I need a good copy of this film in a BAD way. I haven’t seen it on TV in years, and all I have is a CRAPPY vhs copy. I’ve heard there is additional footage on the TV broadcasts as well. Any hep hair would be hot.

I think that this was released on LD. At least that's what the guy told me who sent me a DVDr of it a while back.

i'm sure i read someone that this is coming to dvd. i thought it was a anchor bay release but i'v e just checked and it's not lised (damnation valley is though!). i could be mistaken. night of the comet is a cool film. i', sure i have a vhs copy of it somewhere!

I'm pretty sure that I saw somewhere that it's not WS on the LD. And that the HDnet showing is, and includes an extra scene not seen on the VHS or LD.

I've got the HD Net version of NOTC on DVD, though have no idea what the additional scene is as I bought it without having seen the film. Though I think I might have heard that the film was actually shot fullframe, meaning the 1:85:1 widescreen transfer from here is in fact cropping the picture.

Shot full frame, but meant to be exhibited at 1.85:1. The VHS boots are unmatted.

The LDDB says there was a Laserdisc version in 1993.

I think trickbaxter and I are going to work something out, I just haven't emailed him yet - sorry, been really busy!

If anyone's doing well cash-wise, you might be interested to know that it seems an official release has made available - as part of an expensive boxset that's come out in Japan. Still no word about releases in the US or UK, though.

The boxset also contains Renny Harlin's Prison, Stuart Gordon's Dolls, I Madman and Swordkill.

Can anybody seed? I'm making a cover with scans from my Night of the Comet OST LP. It was sealed so I should be able to get a nice scan from it.
