First off no one in their right mind is going to turn away a billion dollars in profit. We all know GL could care less about how bad star wars suffers or gets belittled so long as it turns a profit. Second the story line dictates it and it needs it. After episode 6 the galaxy is still in turmoil. the jedi council needs to be restablished and the republic rebuilt. Plus just because vader and the emperor are dead and the death star was destroyed that is not all of the empire also mark hamail still looks very youthful. He has hardly aged and as much as I hate hayden as anakin who is to say he cant be in it as a force ghost. I think it's just a matter of time before these episodes are made Is it a good idea? Maybe and then again maybe not but the dollar and the seer profit figures almost guarntees these films will eventually be made. George recently said the live action tv show is now permantly on hold. perhaps this is one reason why.

I see none. And thankfully neither does George.

Ce n'est pas DuracellEnergizerAny ST Lucas would make would suck just as much as - if not more than - the PT, especially since characters from the OT would undoubtedly feature in it and suffer character derailment in the process.
Imagine CGI Luke bouncing up and down like a goddamn rabbit on speed, twirling his lightsaber like some luminous green baton. I wouldn't want to see that and neither would you.
The story of the ST exists for me in the EU. If I want to explore the trials and tribulations of the fledgling New Republic and their victory over the Imperial remnants then I'll read some books and comics penned by better writers than ol' Georgy Porgy.
God doesn't think in terms of black or white - or even shades of gray - but in big, bright, bold hues of blue and orange.

Too late for that. Unless u exclude Harrison Ford.
And as much as i would like to see a VII VIII IX, i don't see how it can be done. if any SW movies should be made, it should be a novel from the Old Republic or something before or during the Clone Wars.

I am ready for the trials! If Lucas hands the directing reins over to someone else, it might work.
Remember, those story treatments for seven eight and nine are probably in his desk drawer, even though he denies they ever existed these days. ;)
Motion capture is getting better all the time, so the sequels can be set just about any period after Jedi. And I'm sure Lucas has seen Tron Legacy, with it's youthful Jeff Bridges doppelganger.
The box office take for the 3D releases will tip the scales one way or the other.

three films about the old republis would work too. Just the fact of how much profit these films would bring in guarntees their eventual making. There is no two ways around it. I agree that 7 8 and 9 if directed and writen by george would probably suck as bad as the PT but I would hope he has learned something or would hand the ball off to someone else. Know lucas he would have the ewoks and gungans in episode 7.

You know, I think Star Wars and Empire are awesome, great movies, you know, the usual rant...
Then Jedi is still good, I love it but I'm biased because it was the first movie I ever saw, but there's a significant drop in quality compared to SW and Empire. It's tolerable and the movie still has a lot of redeemable moments.
Then we had The Phantom Menace, another big drop in quality, this time is not so tolearable, at least it still looks like a film for the most part, and Liam Neeson did a good job and in short it was not the clusterfuck that the other prequels were.
Which brings us to Clones and Sith, incredibly, from my point of view, there was another huge drop in quality when compared to TPM. I'm not sure which is worse, maybe Clones, because I feel nothing in it makes any sense, but Sith is pretty much the same shit with a slightly cooler ending and whole lot of ridiculous moments. So I guess one could say the quality remained the same with those two.
Anyway, my point is that every SW movie, with the exception of Empire has been worse, and many times a whole lot worse, than the last, so for that reason I don't think there should be another trilogy, by the time we get to Episode IX we'll be on Ed Wood territory.

Return to Form, or Forum in this case!!Harrison Ford said a long time ago he wouldn't do Han Solo again.
"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won't last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you'll be able to project it on a 20' by 40' screen with perfect quality. I think it's the director's prerogative, not the studio's to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I have always thought an episode between 3 and 4 would be a good idea as there is much that can be shown and their is a back story to take to it.
At the end of episode 3 the death star is under construction. In a new hope no one knows what the death star is as they approach it in the falcon but all the sudden obi-wan knows its a space station. I have always thought the force told him that and I still do but there is a chance he knew because he has seen it and been on it before. Hence vader telling ben on the death star "you should not have COME BACK" as if he had been there before. Vader tells luke that obi-wan once thought as he did when luke tried to turn him back to the good side of the force. That can be bens reason for being on the death star at that time. Going to try and make one last attempt to save his old friend. Not to mention such a film would give us a chance to see costumed vader in saber duels.Which Im all for if it is not the ninja kung fu sword styles we got with the PT. We could get to see vader hunting down what is left of the jedi. they numbered in the thousands. no way order 66 killed them all. Plus qui gon could be in it mentoring obi-wan and training him.
There is much an episode 3.5 could touch on.

Yes, there's enough material to make an episode 3.5 even if it was a fan film, a fan animated film or whatever. The live action series... I think GL won't be doing it about Vader persuing the Jedi; IMO he will do as usual, about "the trooper's pov, and the smugglers pov". Why? Because he loves it. He loves those pov, he not only did it in the clone wars, but he put a greaser as a pseudo-HanSoloish character in Indiana Jones IV, and is making a movie about the pilots in WWII.
He loves this characters that have "fonzie's style", and loves to show the quotidian side of things in his galaxy far far away.

Quit being stupid. You just wrote a paragraph or 2 about what "GL loves doing in his stories" and how this will influence the life action series / theoretical 3.5 movie or whatever, and you're wondering where you "brought up the PT"?

I for one never thought this. The Empire is destroyed, and things are looking up for everyone, and the people did it without Jedi (for the most part) so why are they so important?

Yes I do hate the PT films. They make me sick. i also hate what Lucas turned into and what he has done but that doesnt mean he cant redeem himself. He knows how to make star wars good again if he wanted to. Hire kasdan again and maybe another talanted writer and bring in a great director and hire kurtz back. Bring back the peoplwe whop have emotion invested in the story and people that actually care. Rick mcallaum is pure scum
