RE: the falcon in episode 3!!!

Congratulations, you've discovered one of several instances of OT craft appearing in the PT.

Isn't ILM clever?

I'm sure they made more than one of the model that the falcon was (I'm blanking on what it is)

and the falcon was an old ship in a new hope so... yeah not a big stretch for me.

This thread deserves one exclamation point at best.  Three is waaaaaaaaaaay overdoing it.

Not only is a very familiar looking ship parked at the Theed Spaceport but they have very familiar looking power generators there too (the sort an AT-AT might be able to knock out with a good shot).

YT-1300, if I recall correctly...
Correct, unfortunately "canonically", it is THE Millennium Falcon.

Perhaps they're just pads for larger ships?

I think that only means there is only one ship named 'Millennium Falcon'...not that they made a one-of-a-kind ship.

...And, besides that, Han (and Vader) say 'The Millennium Falcon'**...not 'THE...'.

What he's saying is that the one that appears in ROTS is actually the Falcon. George specifically requested it and deemed it such. There are many like it, but this one is Han's! (Eventually anyway) =P

Just hosted on Flickr from what I saw.  Do a Google image search for "falcon naboo" and it should be the second hit.

Where is the stupidity? It's more like an Easter egg than anything. The same way the TIE Fighter and X-Wing are on the AotC. Or is it because it's on a prequel film?

No, it's stupid that they felt it necessary to identify this particular YT-1300 with the Millennium Falcon. The X-Wing cameo in AOTC wasn't stupid, but itwould've been if Lucas had specified that it was the same X-Wing that Luke would fly some day. It's stupid because it's unnecessary universe-shrinking.

They said it was the MF on the DVD commentary probably because that's the name most people identify with. How many fans know that the MF is an YT-1300?

According to the novel "Millineum Falcon", the writer makes it the Falcon, making it canon at some level.

Well, yes. It was already canon ever since the DVD commentary.

Of course, when you get right down to it, canon is in the eye of the beholder ;-)

God doesn't think in terms of black or white - or even shades of gray - but in big, bright, bold hues of blue and orange.

This strikes me as something dumb to get angry at.

There's a tiny little spaceship in a wideshot. It's easy to not even see. If you do see it, it looks like the Falcon true, but so what. It's a lot of work to read a crappy novel to get verification that the ship in question is supposed to actually be the Falcon. And then I ask, who gives a rat's ass?

Gonna agree that it's insanely stupid, but also agree with Boost that it doesn't matter in the slightest.
