16x9 anamorphic ? 4x3 ?
23.976fps IVTC ? 29.97 ?

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Offhand, I believe the bonus disc is 29.97 and 4:3 ratio, but the trilogy itself is 2:35:1 Letterbox at 29.97. I'm sure Dark Jedi will let us know if I have that wrong.

Pretty sure that they are all letterbox, correct me if I am wrong. Everyone should check them out!

Yes, I too am "pretty sure" the DC laserdiscs contain 2.35:1 images (for the Trilogy proper, not necessarily the Supplementals), and I'm pretty sure Pan/Scan laserdiscs contain 4:3 images.
However that wasn't the question I was trying to ask.

The EditDroid & TR47 sets contain 2.35 images letterboxed within a 4:3 frame,
while Gonzo, Farsight & Cowclops contain 2.35 images letterboxed within a 16:9 frame.
I'm confident dark_jedi's DC-derived set presents the films in their original aspect ratio, but that doesn't answer my question of whether or not the DVDs are anamporphic, or whether they've been IVTCed.
Those bits of info seem pertinent IMHO, considering the title of this thread.
On the other hand, the thread title does say "some specs" so one might argue it shouldn't contain all the specs.
NTSC or PAL ? (Please, noone tell me the DC source is NTSC -- I'm asking about the finished DVDs.)

Now that my 1138 torrent is finished I've begun to download d_j's Ep4 from a.b.sw, so I'll know the answer soon enough.
Afterwards, I'll still believe those bits ought to be added to the initial post for the benefit of others.

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Thanks DJ for your quick reply, and for sharing your efforts with the world.
I look forward to seeing the DC-derived set. I'll probably pass the Pan/Scan and SE ones, but I'm sure others will enjoy those.

On second thought, I might grab the P/S ANH just to hear its soundtrack.
Anyone know if the 5651-80 disc contains the orginal stereo mix from 1977 ?

Watched the Def. Col. ep IV last night, good job! Added you to my review in the "official reviews thread" on a shared fifth place with TR47. Really lookig forward to Segaflip's post of your P&S transfers: that's how I first saw them almost fifteen years ago. I've been waiting a long time till someone took the effort doing a transfer. If my calculations are right there is a vertical resolution increase of about 75% compared to the NTSC widescreen LD, and an increase of almost 50% compared to PAL widescreen LD.

That's no moon. It's a LaserDisc.

thanks Grinder i hope you enjoy the rest of them.
but i dont think i would have ranked it a 5 but i am also a little biased LOL

No I didn't rank it a 5, it's on a shared fifth place. Take a look at my list, where would you put it?

What are the differences between the '77, '85, and '97 mixes? I know there's a matter of a few lines of dialogue, but I assume there are more.
We don't have enough road to get up to 88.
