South Jersey DevilA member I have respected said this about me
Leonardo said:
And you're being your usual disrespectful brat.
is true?
have I been acting like this?
have I been doing so for time or just lately?
this bothers me, please let me know.

Magister Pontifex MaximusIn my opinion you are just you.
You can over-react a bit at times and get unnecessarily furious, sometimes you find other people's beliefs and opinions easier to attack than consider.
But as that's lots of people on here you shouldn't worry about it too much.
You are an exciting part of the furniture here.

Joliet JakeAs I said in a pm, I'm sorry. I can overreact, too.
I offer you my palm branch of peace.

Look, I'm taking another puff!
... And they had 'The Empire Strikes Back', the fifth of the four Star Wars films. He is fucking with us numerically, isn't he! "Children, count up to ten." "Four, five, six, one, two, three, ten". No, it goes, four, five, six, one, two, three… No, it goes: four, five, six. One... Two and three have not been made." "Two and three have not been made! What should they be?" "What should they be? We do not know. All we know is that there will be a big floppy character in it that goes, squawk squawk squawk... who needs a punch up the bracket!"

Some of what Bingo said.
I don't know whether you do or not, but it is good to not confuse respect, agreement, and fondness. I accept that I don't know the real Warbler. The hope is that anyone would honestly consider what another person is saying, even if that person is not deemed respected.
(subtext: Mrebo is jealous of Leonardo ;D)
I'm responding to the political post...soon, btw.
This is not a lightsaber. Nor a euphemism.

but don't you at least agree that there is a difference between consider something you or Leonardo says, and considering something that a troll says? Surely it is acceptable to seriously consider something you or Leonardo says, but totally dismiss what the troll says.

Magister Pontifex MaximusYou can respond to people anyway you like Warb.
But there is a difference between deciding that what is being said isn't for you and getting into a passive aggressive tissy and wishing death and damnation on someone on the one hand and crimping off inches of "whatever" and "*sigh*" on the other.
If what someone is saying worthy of you dismissing it just dismiss it, say nothing, ignore it.
Warbler

South Jersey DevilYou just won't let that go, will you? You do realize that telling someone to foad is not the same as seriously wishing death on something? I don't think I have to say absolutely nothing about something that "isn't for me" or something that is worthy of me dismissing. I think I've got the right to say that I deem something as worthy of being dismissed. It doesn't seem to me that you ignore everything you deem worthy of dismissing or stuff that isn't for you.

Magister Pontifex MaximusYou have no idea what I ignore Warb.
But I don't ignore the casual way you through such lines into a conversation.
I've been around dying people Warb.
It's not nice to throw phrases like that at random strangers you know nothing about.
Even if you don't mean it (and I can't believe you do) it feeds the sort of impressions that lead to you making a thread like this.
Incidentally why start a whole thread asking about how other people see yourself if you have already made up your mind which reactions to listen to?
I imagine you as an okay guy but you project an unflattering image of yourself which you seem to worry about.
If it worries you try projecting an image of yourself which is closer to how YOU see YOU.

"friggin midgit devil teddy bear"I feel the same way Bingo does about the fuck off and die comments. That phrase just never sits well with me, regardless of who it is coming from. I've watched lot of people die, the analogy isn't one I like to seen taken lightly.

South Jersey Deviljust so you two know, I have watched one person die: my Grandfather. I sat for hours in his hospital room watching him die. Also, although not exactly the same thing, I watched one of my dogs die. It died as I was holding it in the car while we were rushing him to the vet.
I have also had other family members die and dogs die as well, it is just I didn't actually watch them die.
If you think I take death lightly, you couldn't be more wrong.

because someone whom I did make up my mind to listen to, said something that bothered me. If a troll had said what Leonardo said, I doubt I would have made this thread as a reaction to it.

Magister Pontifex MaximusThen you should know better.
Sore subject I know but what if that person or someone reading it was dying?
Maybe they were posting a load of bollocks because they were seriously ill or clinically depressed and they read you saying "Fuck Off and die" (as a Joke).
When other people read you type that it makes an impression (possibly 100% false).
If that worries you try something else, if it doesn't this thread is not much different than this.

South Jersey DevilYou guys need to watch the part of '12 Angry Men' when they talk about the boy maybe not really meaning it when he told his father "I'm going to kill", and then part later when the one juror loses his temper and shouts "I'll kill him! I'll kill him", and Henry Fonda's character goes "You don't really mean you'll kill me, do you?"
I honestly believe my comment about the people that believe the moon landing was faked, has been blown out of proportion.

happy to say it? when I say something like that, it is because someone or something has totally pissed me off. I am not happy to say it. And I didn't specifically ask about about that comment.
I still believe when I said it do you, you deserved it(the comment, not death). You butted you way into a very sensitive situation you didn't know every thing about and decided to lecture me and wouldn't stop. As for other incidents of saying 'foad', I can't remember exactly who else I said it to. Perhaps ABC? well, he deserved it too. If you wish to bring up a specific incident or multiple incidents, I'd be will to address them.

Magister Pontifex MaximusThis isn't the FOAD or nor FOAD thread but you asked generally about the impression some people (not all I underline) have of you.
Incendiary language comes in grades and that comment pretty high up there to be throwing it around.
It debases the currency a bit to use such terms liberally.
You could say something like "Sorry don't agree" or "I think that's unfair" or "that wasn't very nice" and create a different effect.
But the choice is yours it has to come from you.
If you really want to say "Fuck Off And Die" then say "Fuck Off And Die" and don't be surprised if people think of you as the FOAD guy and call you a brat.
Leonardo is now the "called Warb a brat" guy and has expressed a degree of regret which suggests it doesn't sit with how he sees himself.

South Jersey DevilI don't see Leonardo as the "called Warb a brat" guy. He apologized and I accepted that apology.
I certainly don't want to be known as the FOAD guy or as a brat.
I didn't think I used that term liberally.

That's the thing, then, don't get so worked up about things that are said on a screen. Even if they are important to you. Sometimes I read things that don't sit well with me, and I just stay quiet. I could get into a rant about this and that, but I don't. It's the old saying, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say nothing at all". It's also less time consuming.
Otherwise people get an image of "guy with a short fuse". And that's not a good image.

Of course. It's one of those occasions where I overstep my bounds, and I realize I have done so, and made and ass of myself and I try and fix it.
In short, just like "don't drive angry"(1), don't post angry.
Bingowings said:

A hundred years from now, I see a gravestone with Warb's name and a big *sigh* under it. ;)
(1) You wouldn't wanna be in the car with me when I do. It's scary. I'm actually a safer driver when tipsy.

Magister Pontifex MaximusYeah but Warb will not be under the gravestone.
He will be in his top secret lair on the other side of town.
