Strangers on a Train.

Cloverfield.

The Dark Knight.

Dirty Harry.

Doctor Blood's Coffin and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920), both on one disc.

The Terror (1963) and The Little Shop of Horrors (1960), both on one disc.

1408 (director's cut).

The Good German.

Misery.

The Prestige.

The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms and Them!, both on one disc.

The Shining.

Stargate (Ultimate Edition).

The Village.

X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes.

Yeah, my collection is pretty meagre. Most of the movies I own are on VHS, unfortunately.

God doesn't think in terms of black or white - or even shades of gray - but in big, bright, bold hues of blue and orange.

I disagree. Aside from the LBJ scene, I think the effects are great.

You will not. None of us will, except for a very old and dying Ziggy Stardust who will watch it through teary eyes as he remembers us all.

Zemekis is a hack director and has no respect for his fans.  And Tom Hanks is a good actor but was clearly just cashing a paycheck.

I totally agree there. Especially in recent years with all these bullshit animated films.

ok, I just re-watched a 4 part video about how they did the effects in the movie and I now agree with you, as in "the ones we do know are effects, like any scene with a famous person, look dated and/or odd"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wrCk6O1qGg

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHM0cDR3bdY

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkgoqV2gqQw

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIK2Y8b_ogg

the ones we don't think about, like the napalm scene or the scenes with Lt. Dan without legs, are great.

but the scenes with the presidents really challenge our suspension of disbelief to the point that we look really hard for imperfections.

the scene that really disappointed me was the one with John Lennon and Dick Cavett: even with all that make up, you can tell Dick has aged (look at his forehead and compare him to his 70's self). As for John, even I can do a better John Lennon impression, and that's saying a lot I think!

... And they had 'The Empire Strikes Back', the fifth of the four Star Wars films. He is fucking with us numerically, isn't he! "Children, count up to ten." "Four, five, six, one, two, three, ten". No, it goes, four, five, six, one, two, three… No, it goes: four, five, six. One... Two and three have not been made." "Two and three have not been made! What should they be?" "What should they be? We do not know. All we know is that there will be a big floppy character in it that goes, squawk squawk squawk... who needs a punch up the bracket!"

Me too, I can't believe the status it seems to have. We even had to watch it in school 10 years ago.
