I was going to release the uncensored version as a high-quality mkv file with the French and German dialog tracks added as a bonus but then people started through around different ideas regarding a blu-ray version.  I recently did some adjustments to some of the decensored frames, as well, and I never got a consensus on whether the "towel stain" image was worth restoring.

I can't say about the stain.  It really doesn't look like anything to me one way or the other.

As far as MVK vs BD, I have no preference.  I do most of my HD watching on a PC for the moment and burn to DVD5 or DVD9 as needed.  I can understand people wanting maximum useful bitrate on something like this though.

I don't know how prevalent BD burners are.

Nobody has ever proven that the phone number ever actually existed. The rumor was that it was on the CAV laserdisc - has anybody checked the scene frame by frame?

If the French HDTV airing has Betty Boop's nipples and those weren't even on the laserdisc which was previously assumed to be uncut, I'm thinking that it reflects the uncut theatrical version, and that the Eisner/Katzenberg/whoever phone number is total BS.

We've covered this in the thread, but no, there is no phone number on the CAV LD, nor confirmed on any other source ever. Even the workprint used in the TV special "Roger Rabbit and the Secrets of Toontown" (produced before the theatrical release) does not have it.

I did some minor updates to a few of the decensored frames.  I'm thinking maybe I'll create a video-only track that matches the blu-ray version for people who want to re-do their own bluray version and then do a compressed mkv file with extra audio tracks and stuff.  I could use some help with recommended settings for the BD video track, though.

Is it a BD25 or BD50?

Sounds good. Be interested to see an uncensored HD Roger Rabbit. Space Kaijuu.

It's BD50.  I need to find time to render a lossless version of the uncensored version and then I'll try to figure out how to create a video only track as well as an MKV with some of the other languages and subtitles I have that aren't on the BD release.

Sorry that I am late to the party but I have just recently rejoined the forum. The phone number on the wall did exist . I have seen the stills and may still have the capture somewhere.  I have the some what uncensored LD and the completely uncensored VHS. I made a DVD of these back in the early 2000s and I will dig them up. It may take a dew days.

If you can find the frame with the phone number, I can restore it.  Given all the information that has been presented, the phone number has become an "I'll believe it when I see it" sort of thing, though.

I wonder if the ESRB would rate this game Mature because it promotes phone sex lines.

Ha. After GTA:SA and That Elder Scrolls game (I forget which one) got re-rated, I wouldn't be surprised =|

That phone number could have been just about anything back in 1988.

Of course.

Same thing happens to websites all the time. We used to have a cool Quake modding community back in the day, a website called MDQNet...it wasn't long before it got bought and rebranded to "Major D*** Quotient" @_@ You can imagine what the content was.

This "Joe" apparently only wrote that one article back in 2007, and good thing too, cause if we were to take his word for it, the Hindenburg Zeppelin took the name from the band.

The phone number in the NES game was a Nintendo hotline for tips about the game, that later got changed to a sex hotline. Here's what Wiki has to say about it:

Wikipedia sez:

During the gameplay, gamers would have to call a phone number. Inside the Ink & Paint Club, initially talking to Jessica Rabbit gives the response "Find my Phone No. and give me a call". If the number was called, it would give the gamers clues as to how to continue gameplay.

Indeed, the player will find a real 1-800 toll-free phone number (1-800-232-3324) . Dialing this number on a real telephone would play a recorded message of Jessica giving tips for the game. As follows is some of what was said in the recording before the number was transferred to another company:

"It is shocking the way some neighborhoods are getting. You practically can't walk anywhere without running into stray dogs, cats, and other animals. It makes you wish you carried a piece of meat, a fish bone, or a piece of cheese around with you. The weasel that is guarding Judge Doom's warehouse is the one called Stupid. I've heard that the only thing that'll get him to leave is a quick game of softball. Know anyplace where you could get a baseball in a hurry?"

... And they had 'The Empire Strikes Back', the fifth of the four Star Wars films. He is fucking with us numerically, isn't he! "Children, count up to ten." "Four, five, six, one, two, three, ten". No, it goes, four, five, six, one, two, three… No, it goes: four, five, six. One... Two and three have not been made." "Two and three have not been made! What should they be?" "What should they be? We do not know. All we know is that there will be a big floppy character in it that goes, squawk squawk squawk... who needs a punch up the bracket!"

I have the uncensored version, including the towel dispenser blot, rendered out to a lossless 1080p video file.  So, what should I do now?  Create a replacement video-only track that could be remuxed into the original blu-ray?  Create a smaller mkv file with the movie plus various extra language and subtitle tracks?

I for one would appreciate a full-featured Blu-ray architecture, or a MKV which is Blu-ray compatible, including soundtrack(s). That way it will be accessible to just about everyone, not just the mux-savvy.

I've been following this project for a while and I think you're better off going all the way when you've invested so much into it.

Okay, so was anyone ever able to get some decent source frames of the unblurred Rigid Tools poster?  I would like to see if I can uncensor the short film to go with the uncensored movie.

Was the trailer for Who Framed Roger Rabbit ever released anywhere?  It's not on the Blu-Ray or DVD releases.

While I finish encoding the uncensored version of the movie, here is the 1080p HD remaster I did of the trailer.  I had to do a split archive due to filesize restrictions.

part 1
http://www.sendspace.com/file/fxe0b5

part 2
http://www.sendspace.com/file/4q358g

The pig head segment in the trailer was not in the movie or even in the version of the deleted scene that was on the DVD so I had to do the best I could to make the the limited quality original trailer footage I had work in the remaster.  There are also two scenes that are slightly different in the original trailer because they were missing parts of the final added cartoon animation.
