I found out with a shock recently that my girlfriend has never seen Star Wars.... any of them. Obviously, I would not stand for such a catastrophe. So I'm planning on having her over to watch the OT (and maybe... maybe the PT) for a day. Here's my issue: I want to show her preservations, so she can see them the way they were meant to be seen, but not having time to really commit to watching many of them, I can't say which is of the highest quality. Which one should I show her? I've been leaning toward Dark_Jedi's preservations based on what I've heard, but would really like some outside opinions. If all else fails I will show her Harmy's Despecialized Editions which I have relied on for quite a while for lack of time to really commit to watching others.

The Interweb is a Series of TubesHow important is "HD" to you?
"And I'm shocked at you Moth3r for being off-topic, Because if people off-topic you say "stay on-topic, STAY on-topic, STAY ON-TOPIC", and we are not in the Off topic section of OT.com, now are we?" –pat man

Not important at all. In fact most of my dvds are SD and look fine on my hdtv imo. I mean, obviously I want it to look good. I could always hook up my old vcr and show her my old '95 vhs tapes if I didn't care at all, but it doesn't have to be HD, just at least as presentable as a standard definition dvd.

In that case I'd recommend showing her the 2006 Bonus DVDs on a good DVD player and CRT TV.

legendary but little-known Jedi MasterI'd go with Harmy's 2.1. Best visuals, best sound, without the crap.
Best opportunity for the original movie to blow her away.

"You don't need to see his identification"You could also check out Dark Jedi & You_Too's "Star Wars Theatrical V3 DVD" available on Myspleen. It is the best representation of how it looked in the day. IMHO

Thank you all for the opinions. I'm going to check out Dark Jedi & You_Too's v3. Seems to be what I'm looking for as the main problem I have with Harmy's Despecialized Editions is color correction.

"You don't need to see his identification"Very good choice, I'm pretty certain she'll like it.

What do you all think of Moth3r's Pwnage edition? I did a little further research and looking at comparisons between the two, Moth3r's seems to have nearly identical colors to Dark_Jedi's but a crisper image. Then again sometimes stills like this don't do justice.

The color correction in Harmy's depecialized is the original 77 color timing.

Only for Star Wars. For Empire, for example, I'd choose DJ/U2 if color was my primary concern too (it isn't in my case).
But there's no reason he can't mix-and-match. Get Harmy's Star Wars, and then Empire and Jedi elsewhere. The best of breed for all movies.

Ok, so here's what I'm thinking. Harmy's Despecialized Star Wars, Adywan's Theatrical Empire Strikes Back, and Dark_Jedi/You_Too's Return of the Jedi.
