"darth endeor was a meanyhead" - FatherSkywalker, et al--QFTBatman is my favorite superhero and has been for some time. Which Batman film is your favorite and why? I like Batman Begins best, yes, even over the usual favorite, The Dark Knight. The main reasons for this are probably a) the greater clarity of the story, wheras TDK has more loose ends, gimmicks, and overly hectic pace; and b) Batman Begins explores the psychology of Batman/Bruce Wayne far more, tells a fantastic origin story as well as a primary conflict in two acts, both sufficiently long and detailed to not feel rushed, yet tied well enough together to make a cohesive film.
Your thoughts, please?

It's hard to tell, but probably Dark Knight and Batman Returns.
At the end of the day, for its performances and dialogues.
Batman Returns had Danny De Vito, Pfeiffer and The Walken hamming the hell out of Got-ham, and exchanging hilarious, ambiguous quips with each other and Keaton whenever he felt to join in.
It also had lots of Burton-esque surreal magic and eccentricity, like the circus gang or the icy panorama shots.
Dark Knight obviously for Heath Ledger. I like how it creates dilemmas for the characters and asks moral questions, but ultimately, it's done too simplistically, and resolved too easily, all the while beating you over the head with its messages.
Can't say I liked Batman Begins all too much - Katie Holmes was simplistic and patronizing, it relied on rather boring repeated catchphrases like "why do we fall", Qui-gon Jinn was a boring villain... it was just meh.
Bale probably puts up a more versatile performance than in the sequel (especially like the drunk scene), Cilian Murphy is a slick snake, it has atmospheric stuff like Batman's "theatralics" or the hallucination gas... but ultimately... I thought meh.
The character arc was too simplistic and obvious for me to care about.

The Lone Star JediI enjoy 1989 Batman for nostalgic reasons, really liked that movie as a ten year old.
Batman Returns was also enjoyable, but doesn't hold the nostalgic value of the first. Enjoyed me some Walken and Devito. Plus, by the time this one came out, I was in the full swing of puberty, so Michelle Pfeiffer hold a nice leathery place in my heart as a result of this film.
Anything by Shumacher was utter crap. Never liked any of them.
Batman Begins was extremely enjoyable and a great film.
I'm gonna have to go with the majority here and call The Dark Knight my very favorite of all. I just love Ledger's Joker, his characters true devotion to Anarchy and chaos was a sinful enjoyment to me. His quirks and behavior just enthralled me. I hate we'll never see Ledger's Joker again. *tear*

"darth endeor was a meanyhead" - FatherSkywalker, et al--QFTWell, wasn't there that reference in ANH about the Clone Bores? Nothing more boring than a repetetive thread on Batman.

I enjoy the 1966 movie for its great lineup of villains and ridiculousness.

wow that's a low blow Frink, even for you. I gotta agree with Warbler [for probably the first time] - Batman Returns really doesn't hold up well when you go back and watch it these days - sure, people like it but it's not a well crafted film.
And batman: the movie does have a certain charm to it.

No. I questioned the reasoning behind your rating, on a board that was full with people giving their reasons for their ratings, but if it helps your insecurity to view it as an attempt to "fix" something, whatever floats your boat or turns your crack.
