What planets did Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine plan to use the Second Death Star on? And for what reasons, specifically? The death star concept was thought up of by Darth Sidious long before there was ever the rebel alliance or a rebellion in general , so the death stars weren't just to defeat the rebels, as many star wars fans would think and assume. Sure, that was a big part of it, but there were a lot of other reasons too for using the death star against some imperial planets.
Grand Moff Tarkin had stated in Episode 4 that "fear will keep the local star systems in line", fear of this battlestation, and in the Expanded Universe, the imperial doctrine (or rather to be more specific, the Tarkin doctrine), stated that the empire would be ruled by the threat of fear, rather than the usage of force itself. However, Tarkin was dead after Episode 4, and the tarkin doctrine still supported the usage of imperial force. He landed his star destroyer on a group of protestors, to keep them in line. What does "keeping the star systems in line through fear ever mean in the first place", though?
Alderaan was blown up by the first death star. It still would have happened regardless of if there was a rebellion or not. It wasn't just to spite and to interrogate princess leia, it was to demonstrate the power of the death star battlestation in order local imperial star systems (not just the rebels) in line.
Did the Empire plan on using the second death star against any imperial planets? If so, for what reasons, specifically? On what kind of scale, actually (ie, meaning how many planets)? A large scale? What kind of dissesnsion was Darth Sidious afraid of actually? What would be the purpose and plans of having and using the death star in general, is what this thread topic is about.
This is a speculation thread on how the empire would have used the second death star, had they never been stopped by the rebel alliance.
We are told that it was to keep the imperial citizens/star systems in line, but that just sounds really vague to me.
