negative1ok,
after describing every single shot
in star wars: (need this for a project)
it took about a week to go through it
with breaks..

i realized there's a lot of cool stuff
in star wars that most people have never seen.
(well at least, i've never seen them before)
maybe it doesn't count as watching it.
because basically, you're stepping through
all the shots.
i'm NOT talking about bloopers, or continuity stuff,
colors, or cropping issues either..
but weird things on the screens, strange symbols,
reflections of the crew..
i like the greedo dummy 1 frame:
------------------------------------------
i'm sure there's lot of other cool things
in there if you look..

Magister Pontifex MaximusIt looks like there's a gigantic teddy bear in the background there.
Say goodbye, to all this and "hello" to Jason Issacs.

I am ready for the trials!I first saw dummy Greedo in 1988, when I rented the Japanese CAV Laserdisc from a video store in L.A. that is sadly long gone now. Great fun running the explosions backwards and forwards, in super slow motion too. It bugs me Blu Ray can't really do that stuff.

How many have noticed this one?
3po and r2 are crossing the corridor on the tantive and getting shot at from both sides by the rebels and the stormtroopers. They both make it to the other side just as a laser blast explodes near the doorway they just entered. In this exact second the blast hits there is a few frames missing. If you look at the troopers and toggle back and forth during the laser blast you'll see them all standing and shooting in one frame and the very next frame a couple are laying on the ground and the others are all in totally different positions.
Yeah I guess that's a continuity error but still one of those things you'd never see unless you stepped through frame by frame.
Luke threw twice....maybe.

I am ready for the trials!Given what we know now about the way Star Wars was assembled in the editing room, it's probably a bit of editorial slight of hand, like the extension of the Tusken Raider shot.
They also probably didn't want Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker too close when the explosion was set off.
And now I'll have to go looking for that shot. ;)

Tauntaun herder-Damn Fool Idealistic CrusaderAgree that this is best done on LD. Especially with a player that has varying speeds of reverse/ff. Then you can have lightsaber battles slapstick style!

actually, it's even easier nowadays.
any video editting program can do it..
i use virtualdubmod, and avidemux.
you can use the arrow keys. left goes back,
and right goes forward.
another way, is just export a short video sequence
to images. and use an image viewer (i use irfanview)
to go back and forth through them..
poor mans animation... from the sequences i posted.
if you scroll up and down in the browser. you can
*almost* animate the sequence. scroll faster or
slower.

I am ready for the trials!I've tried it with the SW Blu Rays, and you can't even still step more than a few frames without the chapter/timeline thingy popping up, and you can't advance any further. About the only Blu I can even do that with was Metropolis, (the Moroder cut) and that may have something to do with the lack of Java crap on the disc.
DVD's on my Panasonic Blu Ray player have no such problems. In fact I can still/step backwards and forward better with it than my DVD player can.

Doesn't know how to handle his new-found fameHmm, it sounds more like an issue of how the disc is programmed than how bluray works. I don't own the star wars blu's but it works on the discs I've tried. At any rate, bluray technology is certainly capable of doing step frame or slow mo & it sounds like it's a matter of how the manufacturer programs the disc as to how well it works.
It figures lucasfilm would program them in such a way as to make it a pain... *rolls eyes*

You know, if you wanna have some stuff to check frame by frame, read IMDB's part of this page "Revealing mistakes": http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076759/trivia?tab=gf
There's a lot of stuff listed there.

A Midwest Monster Of The Highest GradeI used to love watching Alderaan being destroyed frame-by-frame. The laser blast from the DS splinters and reaches around the planet almost like fingers. Very cool effect. I dunno if it's the same in the SE. I was using the original VHS.
