Is it not sad that in this time, we are more surprised by acts of love than acts of hate?

The Star Wars you see today is not the Star Wars I grew up with, and I am fine with that, it is just a memory now, something that glimpses of can be seen by peering into boxes stored away in my basement, and that recollections of can be shared with people who grew up with it in a similar was to myself, like many of the people on this board. What more could I ask for?

PNG files as avatars do not seem to work...

RE: Uploading Author icon - Problems
I can not upload my avatar. I keep getting the error message about my picture being larger than 5k.
I shrunk it down to 40x40, with the lowest quality settings (photoshop), and it still won't take it. How are you guys making your avatars small enough to fit, while keeping the picture clear?
EDIT:
Never mind. I found a good tutorial on how to fix it in photoshop over in "off topic" under the topic "avatar issues".

I can't seem to upload a new avatar either. I ended up uploading my old one after I'd
saved it on my computer. :?

RE: Uploading Author icon - Problems
At first it was telling me it was too large, so I tried several smaller/lower-res versions
then I wasn't getting any error message at all, just the generic message that you get before you attempt to add an avatar.
I'm going to give it one more shot and then I'm giving up! :P LOL
EDIT: I just tried a .gif version, and that's not working either. :(
I guess it's "catface" for all of eternity now (if I can get that back up there, that is).

Hey guys, I've got a file of about 3.74kb at exactly 80x80, it's a jpg. And yet, when I try to upload it, it displays my old avatar (the one you're probably seeing now.) I know I"m not putting up the wrong file. Anyone know what's wrong?

Have you tried deleting your current avatar, then uploading the new one?
Edit: Also make sure you refreshed your browser's cache. I uploaded a new avatar, but saw the old one until I refreshed my cache.
I'll check the code to make sure it's smart enough to delete any existing avatars before uploading a new one.
