It's not really a question of cost, but more about the fact that the current software just sucks. The beta version of Jay's new software is very cool. Can't wait til it's ready to go live.

We've only been waiting for that for........what, two years now?

I deserve to be ripped a new one for the length of time it's taken to upgrade the software. Totally unacceptable. Part of it is due to the heavy web dev work I'm doing at the office right now; it's hard to muster the energy to program when I'm already doing it all day. Regardless of that, the forum software has been at the front of my mind for the last month and I've been itching to get back into it.

New toys to play with tend to get me fired up and working, so the Intel-based Mac I'm buying this weekend should do the trick Expect some movement very soon.

Btw, I increased the PM limit to 100.

Started up work again on the software. I forgot how close to completion it actually was.

Fixing the last few bugs and tweaking the interface.

I've been busy preparing my presidential campaign.

Actually, I put the forums on hold for a couple weeks due to some personal responsibilities and fanedits.com, which is about to enter beta

Fanedits.com will probably be the testing ground for the new forum software, after which I'll upgrade originaltrilogy.com.

Moth3r and Zion are tooling around the fanedits.com alpha right now. I still have some work to do on it, but the full beta should be ready for testing next week.

I'm thinking fanedits.com will be a better place to release the new forum software because it'll be a fresh installation without porting over a bunch of data. Once it's been shown to work relatively bug-free over there, then I'll upgrade ot.com.

You guys will NOT be dissapointed. Jay's software is going to be incredible once it's finalized.

After some alpha testing, Zion and Moth3r had some feature requests/enhancements. I'm taking some time to build those into the fanedits.com beta, hence the slight delay. It's coming together very nicely.

I'm hoping the fan editing community finds the site as valuable as we think it will be.
