Upconverting VCR for HD Preservations?

I haven't looked into preservations nearly as much as I have fanedits, but was curious if anyone has used this Panasonic VHS Upconverter to feed and rip a 1080p signal copy of the original VHS releases (and possibly pre-ANH bootleggs) to their computer?
