part of me wishes the same now I am fed up of hearing P.T fans slagging off the classic trilogy as being crappy and ancient especially ANH and what a a tired and old myth and story it is now....
Lucas should done it for them and let us have the O-O-T while they have their CGI spectaculars and lightsaber fights with sommersaults,
we can retire with the classic trilogy, let them carry on.

Mace will never be a force spirit; he did not learn the secret of immortality taught to Obi-Wan and Yoda by Qui-Gon. According to Lucas, they "caught" Anakin on the other side, although I'd much prefer it if Anakin just dissapeared after his death and it was assumed since he was the Chosen One it was natural for him to become one with the force. What I would like to see (I've posted this before), is this:
-Luke looks off to the distance.
-Old Obi-Wan and Yoda are there, and old Anakin appears.
-Luke smiles at them, and Leia comes over to him ].
-Old spirits transform into their prequel trilogy selves, dressed appropriately (no cut-and-paste jobs).
-Luke and Leia join the rest of the group.
-Qui-Gon appears beside them and the group acknowledges each other.
-Final shot of the OT characters.
-NEW final shot of SAGA characters, the spirits.
Since the saga is really about Anakin, the final shot should feature him and the other full-saga characters. That, and I never liked that last shot of laughing Leia, clapping Lando, and dancing Ewoks. A new, triumphant musical cue should also be added to end the saga with an emotional bang. It would be nice to see Padme there with the rest of the spirits, to have Anakin reunited with his love and Luke and Leia see their mother, but the logistics of explaining how that would be possible would outrage many fans I'm sure. In my opinion, NOT seeing Padme really weakens the saga; what kind of happy ending is it when we're left to assume the hero's love is lost to oblivion? All that aside, seeing Qui-Gon makes perfect sense as he is the reason the rest of them are there in the first place.

Yeah I get it. but will Lucas add Padme? I think Qui-Gonn may be possibilty, Lucas has to do a decent job with the ghosts not cut and paste in a costume test(or whatever) job ,like we have now, but proper performances from the actors....

I've seen a fan made video clip of Qui-Gon in RotJ that looks almost authentic, and I'm sure with a little more work he would blend right in. I believe it was from someone on TheForce.Net.

Despite the Hayden ghost being done without his permission, isn't it technically illegal for him to do that? Crispin Glover sued and won over the use of his image in Back to the Future Part II, and the laws were changed to keep those things from being done without the actors' permission. If that extends to this, then Liam is safe.

That's all just prequel crap. In my mind, all Jedis disappear when they die and become spirits. That's it. That's all part of being a Jedi. None of this 'you have to learn how to do it from Qui-Gon' shit. Jedis die, they disappear, they come back as spirits. The fact that they are a spiritual, enlightened bunch of people is explanation enough for me. There was no need for the convoluted and poorly done explanation we were given in the prequels. If Qui-Gon had faded away, it would have been fine. Granted, that might raise a question about Vader fading at the end of Jedi, which I personally thing is what should have happened, but I imagine that he did fade and we just didn't see it. Luke burned his suit only.
Then again, in my mind their are no midichlorians either.

mabye I'm in the minority here, but I didn't mind too much the Qui-Gon learned how to be a force-ghost explanation. If nothing else, it might keep Lucas from adding Mace, and every other Jedi that ever showed up in the prequels to ROTJ. (Hope I didn't just give Lucas an idea.) But yes, I think that Vader disappeared, and only the suit was burned.

The more I think about, Qui-Gonn is a fair idea as long as long as it done properly and Luke does think who is that bloke with Anakin Obi Wan and Yoda (and Liam is acting and its not other footage etc) but Mace or any of the rest of his Jedi Posse is overkill, my big objection and Commander Courage will disagree is Padme, that would for me stretch realms of believeablity and is too convient a happy ending

I was just on this fan site called, um, originaltrilogy.com full of crackheads who actually think my %25 films were better tham my new ones! The guys there made an off the wall comment that Padm'e could be added to the ending of return of the jedi. That's brilliant! Rick: So, George has finally been given the opportunity to go back and complete the wonderful scene the way he envisioned. He's an excellent filmmaker. He knows EXACTLY what he wants, and he gets what he wants. With the Padm'e scene, he was always sad he couldn't put her in there. At the time, we were going to shoot her with Hayden, um, George even had the idea of bringing in Sam, but decided it wasn't part of his vision, so we trashed the idea, and stayed with Hayden and Natalie. Then Natalie got sick before the shooting, caught something from Hayden I believe, but now George is able to reshoot the scene, and it all turned out wonderful. I really admire George, you know, for his innovations, his films are so awesome, and I wish that I had the creative talent he has.

I agree that Padme appearing beside Anakin makes no sense in regards to how the Jedi become Force Spirits. The problem here is that in the OT, the only main character-good guys that died were Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Anakin. Their appearence at the end of RotJ could be interpreted as Luke glimpsing the afterlife, where everyone had a happy ending.
In the PT however, we've got beloved characters dying all over the place. Qui-Gon, Shmi, Mace, Padme, etc. Padme in particular in that her and Anakin's love played such a vital role in the prequels, and of course her being the mother of Luke and Leia. Now we get to the ending of RotJ and see the familar 3 spirits, but what are we to think of the rest of our deceased friends? Are they simply lost to oblivion? If that is the case, it is especially tragic for Padme, whose love with Anakin fueled the actions that lead to both their downfalls. And what good is the afterlife if you cannot share it with those you love most? Star Wars is a fairy tale, and thus should have a fairy tale ending in which the characters live happily ever after, in this life and the next.
So those are my thoughts, but realistically, I cannot see any more alterations being done other than the ones I layed out before (old to young spirits, Qui-Gon), if only for the confusion they would cause.

I see where you're coming from, but anyone other than those three appearing to Luke just makes no sense. His two mentors, and the father he just saved but barely knew. Which is also why it makes no sense for Hayden to be there because Luke would have no idea who he is. This is all about Luke. Luke's story has come full circle, and now Luke gets to view those who helped him so much one last time before getting to move on. Lucas stating that Anakin is the true main character of Star Wars just takes away so much.

Padme and Qui-Gon don't belong in ROTJ. Qui-Gon has no connection to Luke or the original trilogy. He would be just another out of place attempt to "connect the prequels-original trilogies". Padme appearing would be worse, IMHO. At least Qui-Gon could logically do it. But Padme has no way to appear, not having any force abilities. She would be out of place, and don't really see her adding anything to that scene. I would think it would also distract from the other point that Anakin made peace with Obi-Wan, the other major relationship in the prequels. The original trilogy was Luke's, moreso than Anakin's movies. Of course, I also want Sebastian Shaw back as Anakin, so maybe I'm a bit set on the originals.

I agree but feel Lucas has left the door open to the possibility of Qui-Gonn, with this force spirit thing to appear in ROTJ but surely has left Padme situation to rest, as she was shown in her coffin on her way to being laid to rest (surely even George wouldnt ressurect her from that situation)

I agree now as its Vaders not Lukes story now it certainly weakens ANH, I hear P.T fans cristise ANH because it doesnt move the story of Vader along and they feel is the weakest Episode in the saga, as he is just the villian of the story, in ANH, and you can tell in ANH it was story of Luke as it was the concept of a simple farmboy who became a hero that was being told.

I've said this many times. Gayden Chrystalmeth is the worst actor in Hollywood. He sucks!
He is the worst actor alive and the human equvalent to a 2x4. I just want to smack the living shit of him for ALL the movies that he has ruined.
