Two Palpatine-related tidbits

1) Every so often, I think of the scene in ROTS just after Anakin turns to the darkside. When Anakin professes his loyalty to Palpatine, he replies, "Goooooooood!" - this performance is laughably bad. It reminds me of the sounds a ghost might make on Scooby-Doo: "Goooood! Gooooooood!"

2) I found this old thread recently: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/So-Who-Killed-Palpatine-Anyway/topic/6233/

- and I think the question bears repeating. In fact, Gaffer Tape, if you (or anyone else, for that matter) would care to explore the question in a YouTube segment, I would appreciate it. Maybe a broader audience might give me an answer I could live with.

Gooooood.....Gooooooooooooooooooooooood...

I made a video recently that kind of relates to this topic.

I made an edit of Anakin's turn, and I did some fancy editing of that part that you may find interesting, because I feel the same way about it as you do.

Interesting.  I have a couple of questions, though; one editing-related, and the other story-related.

How did you keep your opening titles so perfectly in sync with the monitor Palpatine was watching?  Is that a Vegas feature?

I was a bit confused when Anakin stopped Mace.  You changed it so that he blocked Mace's lightsaber blade, but then Anakin immediately cut off his hand anyway.  Was that moment there just for dramatic pacing, to contrast it with Luke's similar interaction in ROTJ?  Or are we supposed to assume that his hand didn't actually get cut off, and that Anakin's block just gave Palpatine enough time to throw him out the window?

And I thought it was funny how Anakin was still so late to get to the battle even though he came with him.  Obviously there wasn't much you could do about that, but as he ran down the hallway, I couldn't help shouting aloud:  "Hey, guys!  I told you to wait for me while I went to park the car!"

But, yeah, I liked the way you changed it subtley so that Anakin appears a bit more stoic during a lot of it.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming... Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Oh, that is definitely an improvement! Well done.

I'm glad someone finally mentioned my opening title :) . It's actually nothing too fancy - I just used 'Pan&Scan' to move the text block down. At the end (when Palpy turns off the screen), I used the 'TV Simulator' plug-in to screw around with the horizontal sync, and faded it out.

PS: I did the same thing with something more risque...but I can't post that on YouTube...lol.

I had Ani block Mace's saber to create a connection with ROTJ. Basically Ani blocks Mace, waits a moment, and then swings up to 'dis-arm' him.

As far as Ani's late arrival to the party (even though he got a lift with Mace), you're right. Ani appears out of nowhere...but there was nothing I could really do with that. Maybe Mace told him to hang back, just in case things got nasty?
