Anyone know if a widescreen preservation of Toy Soldiers has been done. The only DVD is full screen. Apparently some laserdiscs were widescreen.

It would have to be changed to animorphic widescreen, but anything would be better than fullscreen. I'm surprised a DVD was never made since Sean Astin is so popular after LOTR.

The PAL UK DVD is stated do be anamorphic widescreen. Also the Dutch and the Australian Discs stated do be 1.85:1 anamorph ...

this Austrailian site says widescreen.

Jedi KnightThat happens in the USA a lot. When a film is a complete turkey the studio just dumps an unremastered pan and scan transfer to disc.
Or if you are lucky you get non anamorphic letterbox like the box office bomb the Rocketeer.

I've seen it a million times on VHS and TV in the 1990's. LOVE IT then. I haven't seen it since. I've ordered an AU version. Hopefully it is 16x9 as the specs say and it is a dual layer disc. I'd hate for it to be crammed on a single layer.

The AU and the GB Disc are stated to be on DVD 5 the Dutch Disc is stated to be DVD 9... The NL Version has less subtitles than UK and AU (both the same) but the NL Disc is stated to contain some trailers.
But the ofdb.de might be wrong on this differences. I don't think the NL Version is avaible anywhere... Never saw it in Venlo in one of the stores...
