So for a frame based (non-interlaced) source you would need to modify the function by replacing:

Gee Arnie.d, c'mon already! Seven whole weeks have passed since you tried the Msuper filter. This project should have been finished and released at least six weeks ago. What have you been doing all this time? Got H1M1 swine flu ? Hope you haven't been assassinated because that would really cramp my style....

Arnie, has put alot of time and money into it. I am very sure it is not dead.

It's the X0 syndrome. People have become paranoid because they're afraid projects like these may go months (or years) without update.

I've just been really busy with work. But it will be finished. For Star Wars everything is ready to be rendered and encoded.

The X9, like most other players with both composite & S-Video output, does not have direct composite (also called pure composite) output.  This means that instead of the signal path being disc->TBC->output, it's disc->TBC->3DYC->recombined signal-> output.  So the composite signal is just the S-Video signal recombined back into composite.

According to Kurtis/X9 service manual:

LD-> A/D -> TBC/Frame Memory/DVNR -> D/A -> composite. For the S-Video Output it is LD-> A/D -> TBC/Frame Memory/DVNR -> 3D Y/C/(D/A) -> Y/C output.

So although the X9 composite output isn't "pure" it's also not combined Y/C. For my capture all filters were switched off.

Correction on direct composite, there is no direct composite output on CLD-99/CLD-HF9G. I looked on my archive picture to be sure, two s-video outputs and two composite outputs on shared sockets. The only consumer players with pure output direct from TBC is my C2EX and Pioneer X0 (Both BNC). The older players people think got direct since they dont have s-video goes through outdated hardware that softens the picture. V-8000 is a good player for this purpose but its not as sharp as the two Bnc players. I would use S-video on the X-9 with most filters off except chroma with a low setting.

I really looking forward to see the results of this, I hope you find some time to finish this great project.
