The Tardis displays the Doctor and his companions in the shape of contemporary actors to avoid upsetting it's unseen bosses who watch the 'show' from afar as a means of keeping up with the chaotically unfolding mess surrounding The Doctor's completely unsanctioned 'interference'.
The Doctor has always been a thorn in my ointment but he has also been a worthy opponent in all his incarnations (even if the events he has found himself in have not always been as entertaining as they could have been).
I believe you are currently up to number Eleven, he is fun, he's very very fun but I still have a soft spot for when we were both gog-eyed and toothy (even though my skin was a bit prone to seepage at the time).
