Boba feta, I can't download the art work from your site. Can you fix it?

EDIT:

Nevermind, I found it on your site. Also fixed the link on the wiki.

Looking at some old magazines came across this ad for 8mm and 16mm films.  (view image full size)  Were these kind of outfits the same as the ones you've preserved?

Star Wars

Available June 15, 1978

400 edition Super 8

Only 400?  Maybe this was only it's first run.

400' = Four hundred feet

Would be interesting to know how many were printed/sold.
None of my friends' families were into 8mm that I can recall. Might never have seen one growing up in the 70's.
The fellow across the street would bring home 16mm prints once in a while and play 'em for the neighbors. He taught a movie appreciation class at the rich boys' day-school.
Never STAR WARS though

French Super8 transfer

(google translation)

Transferring super 8 sound - my personal collection of films in poor condition. Denoising, correcting the black level, gain, gamma correction white balance (the film had completely turned to pink), and color balance.

That looks pretty darn good considering it had gone pink. Although the matte boxes around the TIE fighters seem to have been made more noticeable.

He's used far too much DNR & EE for my liking.

I thought that was whatever Youtube does to the video.

If only someone could pull off the impossible feat of squeezing 600 feet of Super 8 film onto a 400 foot reel. *sigh*

My first impression was, "nice transfer!".  Not sure if that much DNR would hold up on a larger screen (the faces are quite plastic-y even on YouTube), but the contrast/color balance is quite good.

Puggo, I presume you refer to the Swedish 16mm? ;)

I'd love to see this! I absolutely love the Puggo Grande 16mm and seem to have missed this somehow!

If anyone could help me out, that'd be awesome, and greatly appreciated!

Folks into this thread might get a kick out of this:

Black and White ESB Super8

*EDIT*

Super8 Silent Star Wars (w/ subtitles?)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbe-RsOHwsE

Are these subtitles real?  (the soundtrack isn't) read that this silent version may have come with a cassette for the audio.  And the film had a blank audio track which many people dubbed the cassette into it.  not sure if the soundtrack is 80s original or something the creator did recently.

RE: The Puggo Edition - webpage and screenshots

I picked up a couple silent black and white reels in thrift stores in my college days. (Saw quite a few if them, as it seems that nobody ever donated the color/sound versions.) Watched them on a cheapo little self contained projector that looked like a portable tv, that could scorch a frame if it ever jammed.

To the best of my recollection, the SW subtitles are real.

I have never seen a silent BW super 8 of Empire, let alone knew it existed!

I wonder if the person who posted the video has the box it came in?
