... And they had 'The Empire Strikes Back', the fifth of the four Star Wars films. He is fucking with us numerically, isn't he! "Children, count up to ten." "Four, five, six, one, two, three, ten". No, it goes, four, five, six, one, two, three… No, it goes: four, five, six. One... Two and three have not been made." "Two and three have not been made! What should they be?" "What should they be? We do not know. All we know is that there will be a big floppy character in it that goes, squawk squawk squawk... who needs a punch up the bracket!"

Worst film ever? Jesus, come on.

I thought Crystal Skull was a very fun film. I thought the last 30 minutes were too ridiculous and too disjointed, but the first hour is I think some of the best Indiana Jones stuff there is. The more I re-watch it the more I like. Again, poor ending and a disappointing last act, but overall a worthwhile addition to the series in my opinion. But then this is coming from a guy who holds Temple of Doom as his favourite.

TOD was my favourite as well, but I thought that CS was awful. When something enters the public consciousness and then you return to the material 20 years later it cannot help but feel like a satire/mockery. It's not fair, but there it is (also see the following series: Terminator, Alien).

I was pleasantly surprised by the new Predator film however, so TEHO.

I adore both Raiders and TOD, but KOTCS was so painfully bad it entered the "never happened" category.

You will not. None of us will, except for a very old and dying Ziggy Stardust who will watch it through teary eyes as he remembers us all.

One reason I didn't like KOTCS was because of the digital backgrounds and the incompatible lighting that went with them in a number of scenes. It helps to make it all look so damn fake.

God doesn't think in terms of black or white - or even shades of gray - but in big, bright, bold hues of blue and orange.

As far as it being a "pile of silly fun," yes, I think many fans of TPM would say that TPM shares this quality with MIB. I think that is also one of the greatest attributes of the original Star Wars film--like Independenec Day or Men In Black, it doesn't take itself very seriously, has good characters and good natured humour, excellent special effects and action scenes, and you feel good at the end of the picture. Which is a point you continue to miss. He didn't compare it to MIB in a general sense, but specifically in these qualities.

That's the one thing i hate about the new facebook software. Anyone can add you to a group and you don't know about it until it shows up in your newsfeeds. They don't even need your permission any more.

I think there was a certain meaning, a degree of Truth (yes, capital "T"), that was present in Star Wars 1977 that puts it in a different category than MIB and ID4. This never got in the way of the fun of course.

I've said this before in another thread, but SW77 defies easy categorization. It is sort of it's own genre.
