Would you care to elaborate? I'm wondering what kind of issues you've had with the source material.
Thanks

No paricular issues that have not been covered in previous posts. Just some refining of the noise reduction and final touches to the mastering EQ. I've already sent the completed file to Moth3r for review, and so he can cut me a test DVD with the audio converted to AC-3. With all the minor synch issues I was experiencing with my video reference, I wanted to check synch with an actual DVD before letting it fly.

Update: I have the "release candidate" from Belbucus, just need to cut him a test disc for final verification of audio sync before the track is released to the masses.
Assuming all is well, I intend to post the mono mix to a.b.sw as a FLAC file (lossless compression, can be decoded to recover the original PCM for those that want it). I've been doing some trial Dolby Digital encodes, so I can also provide a ready encoded .ac3 file that can be muxed with the video off the official NTSC GOUT to create a custom DVD.

I've not listened to the whole file yet, just occasional sections.
Obviously, due to the source material for this - television broadcast audio recorded to VHS linear track - it's never going to have the dynamic range or fidelity of the '93 mix. However, from what I've heard so far, Belbucus has done an outstanding job with this. There is a surprisingly strong low-frequency content and any differences in sources used to patch up the damaged sections are inaudible.

How is everything coming? Things seem to have gone a bit quiet. I'm so eager to hear this restored mono mix so is there any idea of a release time frame for this ?

yeah i am curious as well as to when it is being released because i want to make my own gout dvd for private use only as per this sites rules with the mono mix, and resize the gout to anamorphic.

The test DVD has been sent to Belbucus for a final critical audition and sync check. If there are no problems with the master file, I can post it as soon as I get the go ahead.

LOL

That Liz is such a whore!
I know I'm impatient but since Belbucus said some time ago "almost there" I thought lets ask. I PMed him about something else and never got a reply so I was also wondering if he still visits the forum. Well, he's probably very busy with his new job.

My one sanctuary place is here where i can avoid the soaps when the wife sits in front of the box and watches them and now Coronation Street has invaded the boards...
in the immortal words of Vader..... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

But seriously though, any update on the monomix? I lost the original monomix when my hard drive died so i'm really eager to get my hands on this one.

No real update I'm afraid. The noise reduction aspect is taking far longer than Belbucus anticipated, plus he has apparently been swamped with real work.
In other news, I've been spending time reading up on Dolby Digital (AC-3) encoding. I've also found that Muxman can author DVDs with mono PCM audio, and PowerDVD will play them back OK (although erroneously reports a LPCM 2.0 768kbps audio track).

DVDMaestro authors DVD with mono PCM also. Don't know how it plays back on software but my pioneer dvd player plays it OK (as mono over the center speaker).
