RE: The Great Escape Non DNR/Teal and Orange Preservation

I had to upload it I had planned to burn it and someone was going to upload it for me.

I still have the 16gb file on hand tho but let us see if people actually like the work first and then I can try and make the BD again (it kept failing) and add all the extras I had planned.

Because if people think it looks like crap then I waste a week uploading 25gb

dvdmike, looking at the description of the torrent, you didn't use the bd as the video source for the conversion. instead you've used a hdtv cap. why? i mean, was it not possible to use the bd video to remove the teal and contrast "problem"?

just asking to understand the process better :)

RE: The Great Escape Non DNR/Teal and Orange Preservation

Nope as it would be very hard to remove the DNR...

I checked this out last night, it seems to me that the picture is jarring.  It looks to me as if it jumps or something, I don't know the technical term.  But every few seconds it's like a jarring motion.  The colors look great.  Is it possible to use the Blu Ray as the source to correct the color timing?

As the posts above it would still have the DNR, no jumps on my master

grabbed and took a look into it (not a full watch)

the color change looks good. though, the bitrate is rather low for a 3hr movie. but you've said it was more of a test.

the audio however goes out of sync more and more towards the end. looks like 1 second. i tried two different players and both showed this problem.

Huh that is odd, maybe I need to re-look at at or re-encode

The issue may be that it was from a 25p source, but looking at mine there are no issues.

I can try and upload the 25p version but I have no idea why mine is fine :(

better take a look at your source files if the audio is in sync there. did you just place the audio (i guess it's the criterion or old mgm dvd audio) on your video or is that the audio from the cap?

RE: The Great Escape Non DNR/Teal and Orange Preservation

I placed it there but there is no drift on my file

I tried it on my pc, USB drive in my Samsung TV, and burned to disc played through my ps3. Don't know if its something to do with it being a PAL broadcast source originally?

i moved the mkv to my windows machine and played it in mpc-hc and the audio goes out of sync there as well. so it's definitely the file.

dunno mike. what i've noticed is that the mgm logo skips a bit on all three players. maybe that's what's causing the out of sync. unless of course that little skipping is in your source file and the video plays just fine.

Hmmm odd that, so 25fps  Version upload Then?

no. if the unsynced audio would come from the 25fps -> 24fps, then it would be much much bigger. on a movie like this, it would be minutes.

no, problem might be a whole different thing. you said that you've only placed the audio on it. i guess the sync problem might be just that: no proper sync check. either by waveform or with video.

or

inproper muxing to mkv. mike, please check your mkv file with your project files.

did nobody else notice this? c'mon guys. i wasn't the only one who grabbed it.

I'll check again tonight when I get home. It was the jerky picture that kept throwing me off.

Zeropc did you get the jerks also?

I'm not technical in video editing, I wish I could give a better explanation of what I'm talking about. It's little short jerks every few seconds like clockwork.  It's not completely fluid movement.

I'm having the same issues... frame skip/jump and drifting audio.  The colors look great though.  Aside from the technical issues the overall look of the film is great.  Like DJ said, it must be a frame rate issue.

yes.

i recommend to use eac3to to slowdown the video. i had very good experience with that.
