Master of the RenascenceI'm starting early work on my next fanedit: Tron. Through the use of new music, audio effects and video effects, I will be creating a fresher look.
I'm currently in talks with a few animators to see what else we can do with this.

Master of the RenascenceI'm working on the trailer right now. I got the music track finished with about 30 different cuts. I haven't even started on the sound effects yet!

Wait for me. I shall be merciful and quick.Hah, interesting. I actually had a similar idea but mine was to derez Legacy to bring it more in line with the first film. =P

has been intentionally left blank. Here's a quick concept i threw together

is this the sort of thing you'd consider tackling? I've got an idea on how to do it [for video] but i've lent my TRON dvd to friends so I can't test the theory just yet.
on top of that, adding a blue tint and a whole lo of smoke haze might help bridg[es]ing the look.

Master of the RenascenceThat seems promising. Test it out and post a sample video.

Padawan LearnerA friend of mine and I were talking about this today after seeing Legacy. We were talking more about tightening up the editing of the first film and rescoring it, though.

Master of the RenascenceI'll be doing that as well.
What I plan on doing is this:
Reworking the opening sequence to match Legacy.
Tightening up the editing.
Rescoring the film to match Legacy (as well as some unique electronic pieces for this one)
Adding in some basic effects (flares, a new derez scene similar to Legacy's)
Adjusting the contrast and colour of Tron to be closer to Legacy.
Adjusting the sound effects to be closer to that of Legacy.

has been intentionally left blank.I din't recall moments of it in the film but in the early teaser there seemed to be a good deal of chromatic abberation on the older Flynn when you see him in close-ups. maybe touches like that could be interesting...?

I can't remember offhand if the digital world in the first film was entirely computer styled but remember that legacy had skies and rocky ground and stuff that you might be able to emulate also.
I really need to get my dvd of tron back and watch it for ideas...

Master of the RenascenceDo you mean I should apply abberation to Flynn in the real world, or on the grid?

has been intentionally left blank. No, not in the real world. Just inside the digital realm - but it might be best as a 'now and then' sort of effect so as not to become annoying.
The real world should just be crisp and clean, free from digital effects.

Master of the RenascenceYeah that's what I was hoping to do. I was actually going to lower the contrast and vibrance in the real world though so that it looks more dull and realistic and also so that the world of the grid is more eye popping.

has been intentionally left blank.while i tend to agree - Tron Legacy was almost monochromatic in the digital world [not counting the coloured lighting] in which case a super saturated 'real world' would possibly contrast nicely.
I'd say do some tests and go with what looks good.

Master of the RenascenceYeah I'm just running a bunch of tests now. I think I'll end up waiting for the release of Legacy though so that I can use parts of it - like the opening. Also, I dunno if you guys have noticed it, but the real world in Legacy is orange tinted, whereas the grid is blue tinted - I'm running some tests on this now.
