Oh, man, seriously? You have no idea how much this thrills me. Thanks, man!

How does this differ from the straight MIDI files from the installed folder?

While the thread was loading I was thinking "please be a completed project announcement and not a request..."

BTW, if anyone finds the prospect of downloading each track individually somewhat daunting, it looks like you can use JDownloader to queue up a batch-download.

Bump.

As a TIE fan, I'd like to know. I already have the MIDI files so are these different from those?

Downloaded, imported into my Google Play Music and arranged! Thank you so much!

I'm beginning to wonder if I turned the music off when I played. This music isn't as familiar as I would have hoped!

LexX, I'm not sure whether or not Laserschwert has remastered or augmented these, but I do know that they sound waaaay better than the .midis played back on my crappy sound card. I've never heard the soundtrack sound this good; highly recommended.

Well, it sounds incredible. You did some amazing work here. Definitely doesn't sound MIDI-like at all!

^What he said. Very, very impressive work. Short of a full-on symphonic recording of the score, I can't imagine it sounding any better (or any more Star Wars-y) than this.

This was kind of an on and off project for me, but in the last few days I finally started over from scratch and finished this thing:

Excellent work! You know, LucasArts has lots of MIDI-music games to keep you busy ... :)

Yet, even back in the day of such MIDI-music games as TIE Fighter, many must've played those games sounding like your project ... with this:

Wikipedia - Gravis Ultrasound :

The Gravis UltraSound was unique at the time of its launch (1992) with its use of 'wavetable' sample-based music synthesis technology on the IBM PC platform — the ability to use real-world sound recordings rather than artificial computer-generated waveforms to base a musical instrument on; so a piano sounds like an actual real piano, a trumpet like an actual trumpet, etc. The GUS was remarkable for MIDI playback quality with a large set of instrument patches that could be stored in its own RAM, having up to 32 hardware audio channels.

Here's an old advert:

An ode to UltraSound (with "the original UltraSound & samples CD" link):

And a GUS [Gravis UltraSound] emulator(!):

Weeell, I think you're underestimating the work I put into this. ...

I wasn't minimizing your work at all, which sounds great! In fact ... listening to it right now ("Main Hangar"). :) Rather, I was just adding to the conversation, with the MIDI to wavetable hardware available (the Gravis UltraSound was supposed to be the first & best) even when gaming music was in it's infancy.

Your website is awesome, too (going to start perusing it soon)! You really should add that link to your signature. And maybe post more details here on your process, software, hurdles, tips-&-tricks, etc.?

I know, that's why I made THIS site years ago ;)

Wow, that's your site? I downloaded all your soundtracks ages ago, and still listen to them. Extremely impressive work.

Truly great stuff! TIE Fighter is still the best Star Wars game I reckon (hence the cover art in my avatar :P). Your project should be the soundtrack if ever there was a remake, or a port to modern systems anyway (oh and yes I have played the Total Conversion for X-Wing Alliance for those who know of it, but it just doesn't FEEL like the original TIE Fighter sadly).
