Stringer in Space!I will do my best to rank them...
3. Star Trek
2. Star Wars
1. Victoria's Secret (at least I assume that's what the "v.s" stands for)
Since they're like poetry, what with the rhyming and all, I find that I only need to watch three out of the six films.

"darth endeor was a meanyhead" - FatherSkywalker, et al--QFTI knew one of these threads must be around here somewhere. You can't go to any Star Wars or Star Trek forum without finding one. Saw this article, thought it was fun. Perhaps renew an age-old debate.

I enjoy both. I like Star Wars better, particularly the OT. But I really do enjoy Star Trek, especially TNG.
The ROTJ collaborative thread is a wealth of ideas, both on how to edit Return of the Jedi, as well as how to collaborate in an edit. Emanswfan has taken leadership of the project.

Once upon a time there was a Star Wars trilogy. Now there is apocrypha.Star Trek, while it has its emotional side, is a thought experiment. We journey several centuries into the future to consider how different (or how similar) humanity is at that time. We hope to be like these people, men and women of science and enlightenment going out to take our place among the stars.
Star Wars to me is mythological. It doesn't show humans as they might be, but humans as they have been and as they remain on a primal, subconscious level. It shows how humans are still deeply affected by magical thinking and desperately wish to see the world in terms of good vs evil.
I like both visions, but I think that the OT of Star Wars has more Truth to it than any Star Trek movie or episode I've seen, excepting perhaps First Contact.

Star Wars projects all we are/know through the fairytale into the "galaxy far far away". There is something for everyone. You have a good/evil human nature, romance, drama, mythology, politics, war, technology, military (ships, vehicles, officer, soldiers)... only on the escapism level.
This is what makes Star Wars so great and so unique in the film history. Star Trek, while enjoyable, is somewhat limited.
Prequel Trilogy was supposed to be a story about a good man turning bad. In reality, it is a story about how a complete jerk (PT Anakin) turned into one of the best characters in film history (OT Vader)

"darth endeor was a meanyhead" - FatherSkywalker, et al--QFTYeah, now that I actually went back and read the thread, I probably should have started my own that actually talked about Star Trek and properly abbreviated versus.

Ce n'est pas DuracellEnergizerThe downside to Star Trek is the technobabble and most of the alien designs.
I don't need to explain what the downside to Star Wars is.
God doesn't think in terms of black or white - or even shades of gray - but in big, bright, bold hues of blue and orange.

At its best, Star Trek was excellent television with clever premises, memorable characters and lots or charm. However, it was rather uneven from the start and by the third and final season, it was starting to get rather repetitive. Star Wars at its best (The Original Trilogy plus a few bits of EU stuff most of which came out before the prequels) is pure adventure distilled into awesomeness. I like Star Trek but I LOVE Star Wars.

Ointment FlyIt's not fair to compare a tv show to a movie.
