Agreed.  In addition, had Luca$ decided to take on a limited role and let talented creators/storytellers who are passionate about SW make adjustments and improvements to his scripts, then there's the possibility that he could've become richer.  With the adjustment of inflation, the OOT left the PT in the dust.  The approximate ticket sales of the OOT is astronomical compared to the PT.  Even though SW merchandise sells well presently, it could've broken sales records had the PT been on par with the OOT  And had the ticket sales mirrored the OOT, the PT movies could've been the undisputed #1 of all time at the box office. And thus lil' georgie could've been richer

He has enough money to support himself, his children and grandchildren for the rest of their lifetimes. I doubt money is a big issue. He said in an interview that his goal with the films was to finally see all the star wars films completed and done with.

i believe there's a website that's soley dedicated to the PT and they criticize the OT. Funny, we got a battle of the trilogies here. :)

You will not. None of us will, except for a very old and dying Ziggy Stardust who will watch it through teary eyes as he remembers us all.

Once again, another could-have-been-interesting topic turned to prequel-bashing. Although this one is less surprising than usual, I wish we had a devils' advocate - or at least someone who could blame something else for why Star Wars isn't a Modern Oddyssey

I can't find Anchorhead, but I'm here. ;-)

If the shoe fits...

What if Homer made a prequel to the Iliad and the Odyssey that was just as bad as the PT? Those two works would never have become the classics of western civilization as they are now. To be honest, at first I didn't even hate the prequels; but then I found out they were terrible movies from other people. Before that I honestly believed that these were as good as the OT. But I guess I was stupid (I hate to say this, but it took me years to realize that TPM was a bad movie). Six years after the PT and we have gone from a great film trilogy to a six-film franchise that may not even be half-good. Its now painful to watch these films, knowing what could have happened, GL took the route that was a hundred times worse than our worst fears. SW is dead, man.

I'll be satisfied if one person agrees with me on that statement.

Sounding like a broken record since May 2006.

star wars is never dead so long as we have our memories of the OT before the PT  came along and so long as we remember it  for what it was before 1997. In our toys, in our books and magazines in our comic books and in our memories  star wars will live on. The force will always be with us.

Hal he's really not worth it. Not at all. In fact he was the first non-blatant troll I put on my ignore list.

I doubt Star Wars will ever die. Its going to be around for quite a while i'm sure. Each year the convention nearly doubles in SW fans. There's the T.V. series that's going to stimulate young kids's minds, we have the saga coming to blu ray and the PT is still fresh out of the oven, so i doubt SW will ever die.

Don't you ever call me a troll. I actually like SW and I am not some GL tool like the other trolls here.

Ok you aren't a troll.  So what do we call someone who repeats the same thing over and over and over?  Horse-beater?

I keep imagining Frevious making these wild arm gestures while he speaks.

I sort of picture him as the cat lady from The Simpsons, hurling cats at anyone who thinks Star Wars still has a pulse.

I imagine that, much like 99.9% of all work created by all artists throughought time, the less than stellar works would have be relegated to the dustbin of history and we'd still like the "Illiad" and the "Odyssey."

I enjoyed TPM. Best of the PT

Let's not beat GeneralFrevious with a stick. He's entitled to his own opinion. Besides, i don't think anybody wants to get booted off this web site.

For what it's worth (and I've observed that I'm not alone here in thinking this), TPM was the most effective of the prequel films, and was the only one that felt at all "Star Wars-y" to me.

Unfortunately it was also the most pointless of the 3 films.

Frevious, I didn't call you a troll... I think. I meant to say you're the first non-troll I'd ever put on ignore.
