And in the Marvel comic book but the model Mark is playing with in the garage was meant to be used in the film as a practical model of the physical craft parked behind him.

The later inclusion of the Pod Race in Episode One makes me think it was something Lucas planned to do as a foreshadowing of the Death Star run but didn't have the time and money.

A 1978ish Special Edition would have the money in much the same way that Paramount chucked the money at Spielberg to do shots he wanted to do for CE3K as long as he added shots inside the mothership, I could see Lucas throwing in the Biggs subplot but extending it with the Skyhopper race as a new action sequence.

1997 Lucas was too much of a tight wad and too precious to dramatically restructure his earlier film in any meaningful way and he probably already had an eye on using the race idea in Episode One.

Say goodbye, to all this and "hello" to Jason Issacs.

Yeah there were skyhopper races in both Rogue Squadron games for Nintendo Gamecube.  I used to have the SW storybook when I was a kid and it had lots of great pics in it, some that werent in the movie.  There was one tatooine  pic of Luke and Biggs talking about joining the alliance and Biggs was wearing a white top with a black neck band.  Would love to see that as a possible inclusion or a deleted scene of a BD SE.

If you mean the one I think you mean, it is one of the BD deleted scenes.

In other news, the JAWS disc is everything Star Wars isn't.

Yeah, that's the way you treat a classic, a fantastic release and restoration.

gorgeous lookin' blu ray.  as good as dvd was for its time, water was always a problem.  My Jaws DTS DVD had all kinds of compression and pixelization/blocking issues.

That "Shark is Still Working" documentary is awesome.  and watching it and the other documentary, i get a huge kick out of how crazy richard dreyfuss is!! bwaaaaaahahahahaahahahahaahahaahahahahahahaahha

I'd rather watch Jaws with the original mono track. Maybe if I had a killer sound system, the remix would be fun though.

IMO, that's the only way to watch Jaws. But what do you mean by rather, you have a choice.

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

I mean I wouldn't mind hearing the remix on a killer sound system, it might be fun. But to me it'd be a curio, as if I had the choice (which unlike Lucas, this gives me), I'll watch the original.

The new Jaws audio is actually not bad at all and I really hated the last one. Now that Indy and E.T. are about to come out, the SW disc is going to truly stand alone in its crass, glitchy, shittiness. (There's the big star wars convention in Florida this week, I don't suppose they'll address anything)

If you like replaced sound effects and a completely different mix entirely, then Jaws is right up your alley.

The 7.1 mix is more bastardized than Star Wars.

hmm..guess I'll be firing it up again for the mono sound.

funny, I always thought the DTS dvd sounded pretty cool...guess I need to refine my taste in sound :D

hmmm.....speaking of sound, I wonder who movie industry insiders and/or fans consider to be the greatest sound artist - Ben Burtt or Walter Murch?

true...even if you dont care about the OOT, the DNR on TPM and that stupid edit cut in AOTC is just laughable.

although I am now getting more and more pissed off and ..well just really pissed off that The Abyss still is not even on blu ray yet and apparently wont be until 20-fricking-14!!!!!!!!!!!

im starting to feel glad Cameron lost to his ex-wife for best director.

I think there's one DVD of the THE ABYSS that's anamorphic, but it might just new rumor. I'm pretty sure there is one for TRUE LIES. At least Cameron won't go fucking up THE ABYSS. I'd be happy to wait for SW if I knew it'd be don't properly.

So, no one asked or heard anything about the original versions of the Saga on Blu from CVI? I mean George was there, and surprised no one didn't bother to ask.

Pfft, we can't be wasting time on Star Wars at a Star Wars convention!

Having attended the last two Celebrations I can attest to the fact that the majority of people who attend don't care at all about the preservation of the OT. Questioning random people I encountered while there I found most were completely ignorant on the subject. While also running into a few "they're HIS movies!" types.

The most bizarre aspect about the whole thing to me was that when they'd screen the films at night almost no one would bother showing up. It would get at most a quarter full and then there'd just be a stream of random people entering and leaving throughout the presentation.
