With the DTS audio available for these theatrical releases it could prove to be quite a nice set of creations for the fans.

Yes, these will be released with 6.1 DTS-MA tracks like the blurays.  I may age the audio a bit.  I'll probably add some warping, old tube compression, slight clipping from time to time, and some EQ to make the audio match the theatrical sound of ANH.  I'll also try to make the audio sound more on-set, as too many times voices sound dubbed.

Hi there, how would you go about this out of interest?

I am proud to say I remember the 80's!

This project is looking so good, really exciting and should breath a whole new lease of life into future edits.

The grass is so vibrant that it draws my eyes away from the focus of the scene, the people.

I see what you mean, I could take the green down a bit.

I've been working on some compression, natural reverb, and eq settings to make the dialogue sound correct.  I roughly seperate the dialogue from the music to do so.

Let Naboo shine with technicolor color schemes and retro 35mm.

This really makes the EE halos stand out.

Some of the elements in the scene look like they were added-in in Photoshop with the "outer glow" style applied.

Yes, I know what you are looking at, it's certainly obvious around the edge of the flower vase thing on the left side.  I didn't add any sharpening whatsoever, but looking at the original those edges the artifacts are already there, it's just they just get amplified.  It's things like these that make this project move at a much slower pace than I would prefer.

Much improved version of a previous shot I had showed.

Good Lord, the unaltered version looks like something out of the CG Clone Wars series.

There are still some secondary color correcting artifacts (really just blatent ring around the blue lightsaber).  Here is technicolor in the duel.

That looks like Star Wars!!!

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won't last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you'll be able to project it on a 20' by 40' screen with perfect quality. I think it's the director's prerogative, not the studio's to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Wow, I gotta give that a view on my TV later on. A major improvement visually.

I like this grain FX. It works with the CGI. The colors seem like early '80s. :)

Well, thankfully Ryan McAvoy has already made a comparison clip for me for the duel.

Wow, it really looks great! Kind of like a painting. Looking forward to more for sure. I just dl'ed and watched Q2s set, and I bet your work as a base would make his edits that much better!

Cheers!

Looking great but Anakin looks much too orange at 0:01.

Yes, the skintones are little bit inconsistent in this clip, but that's a source issue, I'll see if I can tweak the settings to let my custom technicolor filter make the skintones a bit more red.

And obviously, I think that I will be using technicolor emulation for all of my PT.  I'll probably post new technicolor versions of earlier screencaps.

Here's that Obi-Wan technicolor shot in motion (full scene w/out audio):

Youtube Description:

"Here's another technicolor sequence from my preservation projects, still making tweaks to the skintones, saturation levels of certain colors, the overblown highlights (the occasional source issue), and trying to correct some of the flicker from the film grain scan I use."

Was I supposed to be getting a distracting amount of flickery movement in the backgrounds?
