So maybe some day, I was thinking of working on a project of enhancing the picture of the SE Blurays, fixing the horrible Bluray color correction, enhancing the detail, and replacing the 35mm grain with 70mm grain (finer, more detailed, and more "HD").
I'll post a few more test shots, but here's at least one finished.

Jesus, it's amazing how the grain can bring out the definition in Owen's pores (pores being the standard by which I assess HD footage, I'm embarrassed to admit). It looks great!
Not to derail this thread ten posts in, but does anyone know if this was the same method Harmy used to diminish the digital noise reduction in the Blu Ray footage for his Despecialized Editions?

Here's another shot without color correction. There's more than just grain (and simple sharpening/edge enhancement) going on. I entirely DNR the picture without removing detail (a careful process apparently no one in Hollywood knows how to do) and deblurred all the edges, and then add 70mm grain to the image. You can see what I mean if you look at the edges of the holograms in the game they are playing, the edges are crisp because of added detail and not basic sharpening techniques.

I would'nt mind seeing some more with colour correction also. (without opening the floodgates as I know you are working on the PT) Would you be using one setting for the whole film or working on some scenes individually?

Color correction is per scene, while grain and detail could be the whole film probably if I get it just right. I'll post some of the same above with the color correction.

Once upon a time there was a Star Wars trilogy. Now there is apocrypha.The screenshot of Luke and Beru looks absolutely right, better than anything I have yet accomplished, colorwise. I would be interested in seeing these same color settings used on other scenes. You say that color correction is per scene, however it's my experience with ANH that practically the entire movie suffers from the same damaged highlights and oversaturated blues, suggesting that a single correction would go a long way to solving these problems, and only minor scene by scene color correction would be necessary to make each scene exact. In any case, incredible work!

That's odd, because I've found that color correcting any of the OT is really per scene, especially since I want the each color to look correct.
For example, ESB's blue issues vary greatly scene to scene in terms of the skintones.

I use Speedgrade, AE, Magic Bullet Suite, and Photoshop for all the processing. The workflow is still in-the-works for this project as it's still a concept (plus I need to focus on my PT one anyways).
