Hey brothers, if one of you could toss me a MySpleen invite, I would be mighty grateful.

Thanks much,

Michael

2 posts....1 of them jumping for invites, and you just joined yesterday.....isn't this a thread about a Star Wars idea in some shape or form?

:(

A Star Wars idea? Hmm...Ok, how 'bout I'm glad that pornographic fan fiction from our franchise didn't morph into the best-selling novel today and invent the genre of mommy porn.

Although, if it did, we could add a layer of incest which would surely titillate.

And Snyde, I'm Mike. Nice to meet. Please let me know how to further do this left, right, left, right thing.

So, how much longer is Dark Jedi's temporary ban supposed to last?

The changes that George Lucas has made over the years to Star Wars is the equivalent of someone keying your car. On an intellectual level, you know that the car still works, and its only marred a fraction of a percent of the paintjob. On an emotional level, every time you see it, it's all you can focus on, and it makes you want to rip someone's face off.

@stretch009: No idea. Somebody said temp ban is one week, but it's been more than one week now. Maybe it's a month?

Looks like the temp ban has been lifted.  I hope the project is still continuing.

Yeah, we're still working on the project.

It will still take a loooong time though...

Okay DJ, calling a truce here. Please provide an update. I'm looking forward to seeing the colors you guys have somehow managed to dig out of this thing!

Ok, i sent out a bunch of Spleen invites and can/will continue to do so.  Anyone have the first batch of BDs they'd be willing to hook me up with?  I know that newer ones are coming, but still.

He hasn't been online since June 20th, which I can safely guess was around the time of his temp ban. Maybe nobody notified him that he can come back? Maybe he doesn't want to come back?

I did tell DJ that he's been unbanned. He's just been busy with work and stuff.

We're still working with the frame cleanup, though it sure takes some time. And considering I've been a bit ill lately, things have been going a bit slower.

So while I don't have much news for you guys, I can tell you that at least some of the color errors in SW have been dealt with:

For the first shot I got the correct hue from another scene on Tantive. Since the Tantive scenes are a bit low on reds, making Vader's belt really pure green wouldn't be consistent with the later scenes' look.

For the Death star scene, I got the correct hue from one moment where Vader turns left and the left side of the belt has it's green preserved.

Weird stuff really, these errors.

Man, I don't know how you managed to squeeze all that color out of the gout, but that looks really good.  Big improvement over V3.

Chroma-shift too?

Yeah but the chroma shift is only in ESB. I've already incorporated the fix for it in our script.

Why did this chroma shift only occur in ESB?

Greetings. First things first, I'm probably the single biggest anomaly you will ever see on this website, because in all my 24 years, I have never, ever seen the films. Of course, if I'm here, I'm resolving to change that. Being a film purist, I wanted to see the original, unaltered trilogy in the best quality possible, so a friend of mine directed me here.

I see you guys have a ton of different options available, and you even appear to be working on a Blu-ray version as we speak. I'm debating whether or not I should wait for the Blu-ray versions to be complete, or just go for the DVDs. I'm viewing on a 50 inch plasma screen, so I want to get the best quality possible. Any recommendations? Oh, and an invite to MySpleen would be lovely, thank you :)

Nah you all are the new norm, the older generation is a dying breed and capitalizing on technology obsolescence has left a gap in knowledge.

My advice is to wait for the blu-rays. Especially because you are going to be watching on a 50inch screen.

Welcome! I recommend you get Harmy's Despecialized versions. If you can wait about a month, his 2.0 release of Star Wars will probably be ready then. If you can't wait, his 1.0 versions for all 3 are available now.

(I also have a 50 inch plasma, and the 720p Despecialized versions look great on it.)

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

I don't know why it's only in some scenes in ESB. I just know Lucasfilm are masters at screwing their movies up. And the GOUT trilogy is full of errors.

@guyofownage: Welcome! The usual advice is to get Harmy's version or DJ's. If you want to wait for this thread's project, it's going to take a while since there's lots of manual photoshopping involved.

Sorry - I guess we were talking about 2 different things. I thought you were referring to the color-bleed that I sent pics of to d_j early on when he first released ESB BLU V1, e.g. a red bleed on faces in certain scenes, and a white/yellow bleed in the crawl (the bleed wasn't on his ESB DVD V1-V3, nor was it on the GOUT).

I think either you or d_j mentioned it again a while back when you started work on BLU V2, so I guess the problem was already addressed.
