Just a quick list of things that bother me about the consistancy (or lack of) within the saga:

1) "THE Jedi who trained me" - Obi Wan says this to Luke in reference to Yoda.  But the PT shows that Obi Wan was Qui Gon's Padawan learner.  Ok, Yoda could have trained him as a youngling, but the word "THE" instead of "A" seems to imply otherwise.

2) Leia having memories of her mother, even though she died in childbirth.

3) Owen/Obi Wan having no memories of Threepio/R2.  And R2 having no memories of Tattooine or the Lars family.

4) "A thousand generations" vs "A thousand years".

5) Obi Wan telling Yoda that Luke was their "only hope", even though he witnessed first-hand the birth of the twins.  Maybe the original plan was to have Obi Wan only have knowledge of one baby?

6) The massive variance in fighting styles between OT and PT.

7) Luke having dream-like feelings (memories?) whilst on Dagobah.  Ok, not really an inconsistancy, but the dialogue seems to point at something that maybe should have been expanded on in the PT.

8) Vader trying to convince Luke to join him to overthrow the Emperor, then changing his mind and saying that he "must obey" his master.  Why such a sudden change of heart?

9) The original Death Star taking 20+ years to build, whilst the second only took several months (even though it is MUCH larger).

10) Obi Wan telling Luke that his father wanted him to have his light saber when he was old enough.  I don't buy this as another lie.  It was something that should have been shown in the PT, but wasn't.

11) "I will become more powerful than you could possibly imagine" and then........nothing.

12) "Idealistic crusade" - what exactly?  The Clone War was not a conflict based on idealism.  And "crusade" seems to imply a conflict based on religion.  You could argue that this refers to Jedi vs Sith, but this was never made public knowledge (the general public do not know the true nature or identity of the Emperor).
