I dunno, I think you're missing the point here. It's like poetry, it's sort of, they rhyme. ;)

Disney says the spinoff 'Star Wars' movies are origin stories

That Yoda origin story would... not make me happy.

I hate prequels (and this is not the prequels, but generally prequels). I think direct prequels to something is a dumb concept and is bound to disappoint at least to some degree. By trying to explain some characters origin and backstory, one is potential ruining its mystique and on top of that competes with the audience's imagination.

Prequel Trilogy was supposed to be a story about a good man turning bad. In reality, it is a story about how a complete jerk (PT Anakin) turned into one of the best characters in film history (OT Vader)

Exactly.

A Han/Boba/Yoda origin story is a horrible idea, but we all knew this was coming when Disney said they were going to do spinoffs.

I do hate the idea of prequels, but I atleast have to believe these films will still be far better than the PT.  I wonder if it would be possible to integrate these origin stories (and future ones) with existing PT material.  Maybe, one could have Han Solo in ROTS?

I'm eager to see early Palpatine and Kenobi in Tattooine for fanedit purposes

Oh, I've certainly known that for a long time.  But I would never want to see him in there in that context.  Chewbacca, Owen, and Beru were all shown in terrible contexts in the PT.

Episode VII: Something Elsewhere Elusive

Winner!

The ROTJ collaborative thread is a wealth of ideas, both on how to edit Return of the Jedi, as well as how to collaborate in an edit.  Emanswfan has taken leadership of the project.

Well Han Solo is one of my favourite charectors from the movies but my all time fav is Dash Rendar mainly because I grew up with the n64 SOTE game so it would be cool if they made a standalone film about him just after the events in SOTE

What's worse George Lucas changing the OT or selling the rights to Disney

Fear not! I already directed that movie in my brain...

Meanwhile, in my brain I've directed a Shadows of the Empire film where Dash Rendar and Leebo are replaced by Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors!

Shadows of the Empire game was amazing on the N64. I would love to see elements of that considered for the new Star Wars film.

Random thought on Ep VII:

So, a lot of people joke that JJ Abrams' ST09 was "the best SW movie since ROTJ," and that it was more of a SW movie than a ST movie (ie, ST isn't supposed to be so action-y).

Got me thinking, it would be pretty ironic if Ep VII turned out as "the best ST movie since _____" (sorry, not a ST fan, don't know much about the series).  Like, instead of an action-y SW movie, JJ Abrams makes a more philosophical, thinking-man's scifi movie (ie, more in line with ST).

Probably won't happen, but who knows, nothing would surprise me.

Well they could not add young Han to ROTS but they made a Lego young Han minifigure for the Lego Star Wars movie The Padawan Menace
