Obvious.

Disney just moved Ant-Man up from its original planned release of November 2015 to July 31st, meaning it will now hit only three months after The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Seeing as how they've only got Finding Dory still slated for the year's end, the likelyhood of a December release for Episode VII now seems even higher.

Sounds like Moretz has been cast:

Good news if true.  I thought she was great in the Kick-Ass movies.  A great actress with impressive physicality.

The movie isn't too bad.  But I would say that she was the best thing in it.

I saw Kick-Ass and at that time I thought she was talented. According to that she should be fine for it. I haven't seen any of her other films so I can't really make a precise judgement.

Prequel Trilogy was supposed to be a story about a good man turning bad. In reality, it is a story about how a complete jerk (PT Anakin) turned into one of the best characters in film history (OT Vader)

She was great in Scorsese's 'Hugo'. Here she is in Count Dooku's bookshop...

...with Ender.

I can easily see her as the daughter of Han and Leia.  She could portray the swagger of the former, with the beauty and strength of the latter.  She could also literally kick-ass with a lightsaber.

I agree. She's an excellent choice.

Hmmmm, things just got a little more interesting on the release date front....

Disney just moved Pirates of the Caribbean 5 out of 2015 altogether. I'd completely forgotten about it. It was to have hit on July 10th, but with Ant-Man now hitting on July 31st they'd basically be competing with themselves. Also, small detail: there's no script for the movie yet.

So, where does this leave Episode 7?

Disney's Pixar movie Inside Out hits June 19th, and they've got a Marvel movie a month and a half away on either side. Things are nicely spaced out for them now, and they've got enough competition as it is. Universal just set a June 12th date for Jurassic Park IV.

Finding Dory comes out November 25th. Disney doesn't have any serious competition in December to worry about, just animated flicks and oscar bait. Putting out Episode VII December 23rd would see it going up against Kung Fu Panda 3, but that's counterprogramming anyway.

Anything could happen, and I'm not completely ruling out the traditional late-May release, but this December business is looking more and more likely.

Counter programming?  I know my kids would be really torn betwixt Kung Fu Panda and Star Wars.

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

"[George Lucas] rebooted the franchise in 1997 without telling anyone." -skyjedi2005

"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM

"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.

Rewrite the Prequels!

I hear the rumered title is A New Dawn

What's worse George Lucas changing the OT or selling the rights to Disney

It sounds like a neo-nazi party from a dystopian Sci-Fi film.

If we're choosing the title based on the acronym, then it should be called Supreme Emperor Xizor.

Too Twilight. Plus, the acronym would be AND. Not as bad as STID though. ;)

At least they didn't just go with Star Trek: Darkness.

STID and STD mean the same thing now, unfortunately.

A New Dawn seems too obvious. My guess is a fan made up that name.

Actually I think they should go with something similar. A New Start. And then we can abbreviate it as ANuStart.

well if the empire is rivived it could be Rebirth Of The Empire

Whatever they go with will need to be vague-sounding just as the first installment of the PT and the retconned title of the '77 film were. It's episodes 8 and 9 when the title can actually give something about the plot away.

Episode VII: A Vague Threat

Episode VII: Something Elsewhere Elusive

Episode VII: The Fog of (Star) Wars

Episode VII: Return of the Franchise

Episode VII: Something, something, something... Darkside

Episode VII: A New Film

^ The last one says it all rather well IMO
