I am ready for the trials!Disney wouldn't bother getting the rights to the Fox fanfare if they were releasing the movie themselves.
What I could see happening is Disney giving Fox theatrical distribution on the ST in exchange for getting full distribution on I-VI right now. Fox gets to make money they otherwise wouldn't have, Disney gets the existing movies, and we get our fanfare. Everyone wins! The situation for Disney would be no different than it was for Lucas on the prequels.
Of course, Fox will probably ask for some additional upfront payment before they completely let go of I-VI, but the two companies would be foolish to not at least consider this idea.

Wow, now this thread has made me sad. Mostly because it made me realize that what I thought was one of the themes that Disney could use, which would mesh really well with the Lucasfilm cue (though not as well as the Fox fanfare) was actually the Dreamworks logo theme.
Just trade out that last little Guitar bit for the same notes in horns (which I'm pretty sure one version of the logo does), and you'd be in business.

"Take Me To Your Cinema"To me, hearing/seeing the Dreamworks logo says...
"Congratulations you've just paid to see a movie that you were hoping would be really good but which will only mildly disappoint you"
;-)
Where as the Fox Fanfare always comes with the feint suggestion that you may (Despite your brain telling you that it won't) be about to watch a movie with Lightsabers and Pulse Rifles in it ;-)

Yay! This is excellent news!
"And I'm shocked at you Moth3r for being off-topic, Because if people off-topic you say "stay on-topic, STAY on-topic, STAY ON-TOPIC", and we are not in the Off topic section of OT.com, now are we?" –pat man

Right on, man. I may as well just put my fan edits on hold because it is now imperative that I use your source material.
And this is a great sign!

Padawan LearnerConsidering how fugly the blu-rays are, episode 7 may end up looking more authentic to the trilogy than the actual trilogy does now.

StarkillerThis means the movies will only be in 3D if converted in post. I'm glad 3D isn't given a priority. It's a fad that has outstayed its welcome and needs to die as quickly as possible, IMO.

"Take Me To Your Cinema"Is anybody that worked on 'Elysium' working on EpVII 'cause that film looks stunning!
Went to see it earlier today and it might just be the most realistic CGI I've ever seen. I couldn't begin to say where the practical sets, models and locations ended and the FX began. Cinematography is beautiful, story is thought provoking and Jodie Foster is a wonderfully scary villian. Best Sci-Fi flick in years.
If the PT Battledroids had been like the Nazi-Police robots in Elysium, it wouldn't have taken Order 66 to finish the Jedi off.

Great blend of practical work and CGI = Realism
Hope all the rumours are true and this is the way the ST will be shot.

I am ready for the trials!I figured Mindel would get the job. Between John Carter and the Star Trek rebootquels, he's gotten more practice for a theoretical Star Wars movie than probably any other cinematographer out there. He and Abrams probably have a good repore by now after M:I-3 and the two Star Treks.
Do we yet know who the production designer is?
