Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones

In attack of clones, it is shown that Jango Fett has volunteered his genetic template to create cole of army for republic. It is also shown in the film that Jango Fett is against republic.

If Jango Fett is against republic, why would he agree to provide his genetic details to create army for republic.

If anyone knows, please clarify.

Money. He doesn't care what it gets used for, as long as he gets paid. He says as much in the movie.

I don't know.

It's such an epic plot malfunction that it probably does deserve a thread to itself.

One can understand Jango's motivation.

Fans of the EU will possibly read some Mandalorian/Jedi antipathy subplot in there that Lucas was no doubt ignorant of has probably been undone by the television show.

As doubleofive says he's in it for the money and he is really raking the stuff in.

He gets paid by both the Kaminoans and the Confederacy for the same job (a family tradition that Boba will continue in ESB).

He also gets a son thrown into the bargain without the need of a woman cluttering up his life which says more about the character and possibly his creator than any other line of dialogue in the film.

There is an obvious reason why Lucas did it too :

Why the Jedi should deploy this brainwashed slave army based on the confirmed bodyguard of their enemy leader, implicated as he is in the attempted assassination of a prominent senator (morally and ethically this is odd but strategically it's suicidal) and continue to do so for the full duration of the war is wonky beyond belief.

The surprise shown at their betrayal shows a deep seated stupidity that goes beyond any mystical powers of the dark side.

It's almost like Dooku and Palpatine don't want to win but feel obliged to take over because their opponents are such numbskulls.

The title is a bit dumb too, the clones don't attack.

The bounty hunters hired by Dooku attack, Obi-Wan is captured, Anakin and Padme sneak around and get themselves arrested and all three are sentenced to be executed.

The Jedi botch a rescue.

The Clones are speedily deployed on a pre-existing conflict zone.

I guess Rapid Deployment Of The Clones wasn't catchy enough.

Mind.  Blown.  These prequels have all sorts of problems, but this one never even occurred to me until now.  Unreal.

AOTC is the worst big budget movie I've ever seen.  Minor plot holes like this are insignificant, next to the completely incompetent directing, lifeless acting, uninteresting characters, wooden dialogue, boring video-game action scenes, etc.

All I can say is that Temuera Morrison has been in far too many shitty movies.

If we take Jango's word for it, he says he was recruited by a man named Tyrannus, or Darth Tyrannus, or Count Dooku whichever you prefer.  Dooku used the recently deceased Sifo-Dyas's name to order the army and recruited Jango as the template.  Since it is known for certain that Dooku was in on Palpatine's plan to start the war, it would make perfect sense for Jango to still be in Dooku's corner even once he starts playing the role of separatist leader.  When Padme started making a big fuss in the senate to keep an army from being form, Dooku called upon Jango to assassinate her, who at that point was staying on Kamino, just as Lama Su said, presumably to continue to provide fresh genetic material for the creation of more clones.  When Obi-wan tracks Jango to Kamino, Jango makes a beeline back to Dooku on Geonosis, presumably to warn him that the Jedi are onto them.

Jango did it because it said so in the script.

Since they're like poetry, what with the rhyming and all, I find that I only need to watch three out of the six films.

My name is Jango

I have it engraved in a cartouche

I do a little tango

And I stick out my tush

As I bite into a mango

I contemplate changing my name to Scaramouche

I have a fondness for the fandango

The ROTJ collaborative thread is a wealth of ideas, both on how to edit Return of the Jedi, as well as how to collaborate in an edit.  Emanswfan has taken leadership of the project.
