I'm actualy toying with color correction of deleted scenes for my new edit The War of the stars part2. But i'd like to make NOT a grindhouse edit like the first.

So every lines and spot removal tools are welcome. I tried Spotremover for virtualdub, but I'm not a expert and as english is not my first language I have difficulties to understand its subtilities. And the result is not good. At all.

So for now I only make color correction.

WAR OF THE STARS 2?? That sounds absolutely brilliant. I'll be interested in any alternative cut of ESB: non grindhouse or not. In any case, with that one mention, you've already got me thrilled! :D

Spotremover is not a partcularly good filter IMO. It seems to be very similar to the DNR used on the GOUT. I tried to pass some aged film through there and it became completely smoothed out: utterly awful looking...

Good job on that color correction! It nearly matches the V3 perfectly. It's far better than mine...

By the way, out of sheer curiosity, did anyone see any of the color-corrected deleted scenes I posted?

Okay,  I will not give away too much of my ideas for WOTS 2 but here is the idea for reincorporating one of the black and white deleted/extended scene:

Great!!! That looks great, TMBTM. The tints give it an otherworldly feel. I'd hardly know the base was B&W if you didn't tell me. The bright blue then red light makes it feel like some harsher decontamination/healing is going on...

Slightly off topic, using tints to colorize does remind me of the Moroder's Cut of Metropolis. Did you use this as an influence?

Anyone know where I can find the "Lost Rebels" footage? The cache of deleted scenes I have doesn't contain it. :-S

You mean the one with the unseen pilots? Or the stuff on the Falcon with the alternate gunners and such?

I have a suggestion that you can take or leave at your leisure ...

How about presenting most/all of the deleted scenes in (very long) "flashback sequences" (akin to Julia :) ), as this would definitely give the whole movie a different spin and feel to proceedings.

In fact, to present Luke's longing to reach the stars as a past event would probably have more viceral (and 70s) impact than showing it in linear/real-time ... and given these scenes can be easily interpreted as a distant look back into Luke's life, rather than being intertwined within the concurrent timeline of the angst scenes with Uncle Owen & Aunt Beru ... as well as we only ever see that floppy hat of Luke's when he's whining to his friends or burning his eyes out through bifocals staring out at the dual suns etc.

Therefore, there may not be any need to "clean up" these deleted scenes, since the film scratches and reminiscing-B&W display will give more "authenticity" to Luke's recollection of happier days when he'd be playing with his Power Convertors from Toshi.

I only hope I'm not too late with this offering for you to consider this for maybe v3 of your edit.

Just a thing on the restoration of the scene above,when repairing the frames, it's best done after the colour-correction.  When you end color sorrecting the scene, artifacts from the cleaning usually start appearing.
