I don't have a widescreen TV either. I watch my movies on my 13" Zenith or my computer monitor. I would've loved the added picture quality of the TR-47 sets, but I went with the anamorphic simply because it had the menus and such. I wanted a set that felt more professional, and so I took the hit on video quality. I would love it if the new dual-layering possibilities would allow people to take the quality of TR-47's transfers and include the features of the anamorphic set. The extra space would probably allow for that, if the ability to do it exists.

First of all Cerebro. Great looking covers. This is the kind of covers I have been looking for since I decided to buy the laserdisc transfers. But I have one spontanius complaint. Like you said you shouldn't have Fullscreen 4:3 on the cover. It should only say Widescreen Version (without 16:9). Maybe a few pictures on the back of the Supplemental Material cover? That's not very important but for continuity' sake. And it looks like there is room for 2 och 3 pictures.

jimbo: You have to remember that the source material (the LD) isn't anamorphic in the first place, so you're bound to lose a bit of quality since you're stretching the image when converting to anamorphic. That said however, I went for the anamorphic set since I have a 16:9 TV, and the non-anamorphic set would look worse on my TV since I would have to use the TV's zoom feature.

I don't know if you want to here this, but I want the covers to be even more perfect. I think that the X-wing attack scene on the Star Wars cover is from the SE edition. I'm not sure though.

Sure we will, the minute that the ORIGINAL TRILOGY Trilogy ir realesed on DVD - NOT the Special Editions I want them JUST like the Laserdiscs - NO special added scenes or any of the "this is how I see them now" crap.

I don't believe the 1989 LD has the 70mm sound mix. I think it's just the 35mm Dolby Stereo mix. I believe the original 70mm sound mix did not have C-3PO's line nor did it have "Close the blast doors." The original mono mix has both and I believe the Dolby Stereo mix has 3PO's line but not the blast door line. Tell me, do you have the '89 LD, and if so, does it have "Close the blast doors?"
Also, there are those who believe, and I'm leaning that way myself, that the so called fourth sound mix done for the THX version is really the original 70mm 6-track mixed down to Dolby 2.0. This would explain different sound effects and missing lines. And if true, this would be the first and only time this sound mix has been available in a home format.

Well said, Obi-Wan. When I first got here, I figured he was just trying to defend the prequels against everyone, and I had no problem with that. But lately, Jimbo has just started to get almost downright hostile toward everyone else's views. You know, there are tons of people that share his opinions on the official site and on TFN. I have no problem with him having different opinions, but he's just started really slamming other people's views lately.

The thing is I am a huge Star Wars fan. I love A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back and I like Return of the Jedi. But lets face it the Special Editions are the same movie just with better effects. These are the way the movies always should have been. I don't agree with every little change. But how can anyone want to watch the movie with matte lines around the ships, lame dead slum cities, hidden creatures. Same story, same acting, same action, better effects. I am hear because someone hear needs to defend Lucas and his superior versions. Why even discuss something if everyones gonna agree with you. Its more better to have individuels with different views. This site needs more people like me.

Yes. A trooper calls out to close the blast doors. The doors close, but Han and Chewie slip through. Then another order is given to open the blast doors. A little comic relief. It was restored for the Special Edition.

For anyone who's interested, I'm going to be starting work on the chapter inserts this weekend. I'll start by sitting down with the movies with the chapter display on and a pad of paper for writing down what seems to be a good title. Then, once I've done that, I may attempt the design element myself, unless is interested in helping. Right now, I'm planning on a format that will print off on one side of a page but will fold over to have a front-and-back design. If anyone has any ideas, I'm definitely open to them; just PM me or let me know in the forums themselves. We're really seeing a lot of really nice cover designs, and I feel that chapter inserts would enhance the overall appearance of our Star Wars Trilogy sets. Also, for the bonus disc, I was thinking of having a sort of menu map instead of a chapter listing (for obvious reasons). The menus aren't really complex, but it would be interesting to have.

Hey, jimbo. You have every right to be on this website forum to discuss your views on Lucas' so-called "superior versions." I actually like the special effects improvements (only) myself, but this particular THREAD is mainly about the Definitive Collection DVD Covers which are from the original theatrical trilogy. Just be fair and express your views in the proper thread and quit baiting people.
