Devourer of WorldsHello Everyone!
"Star Wars: Bounty Hunter" was released in 2002 for the Sony PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube video game consoles. MoveAlong and I collaborated on a DVD titled "Star Wars: Bounty Hunter - Beyond The Game," which was released in October 2006, and you can read the original thread for it HERE. That release essentially compiled all the cinematic cut scenes from the game created by Industrial Light & Magic, several Special Features, and a DVD-ROM folder of various files. Unfortunately, the cut scenes alone did not tell the entire the story of the game, and watching them compiled together could prove to be a bit confusing.
I honestly believe the game tells one of the most compelling stories of the Star Wars universe outside of the movies, and is closer in tone to the original trilogy than to the prequels. It takes place ten years before the events of Episode II. It begins with Darth Sidious summoning his apprentice, Count Dooku, and assigning him two tasks. The first is to eliminate Komari Vosa, a deranged former Jedi, and leader of the mysterious and deadly Bando Gora cult, who Sidious sees as a threat to his plans for the future. The second task is to find a source for his planned clone army. Dooku suggests they accomplish both tasks with one stroke. He will place a huge bounty on Vosa, and the hunter who is resourceful enough to deliver her would make a good source for the clone army. Although its a dangerous proposition, Jango Fett decides to pursue Vosa since the bounty is so large. Also after her is Montross, a Mandalorian turned bounty hunter like Jango, who is now his bloodthirsty rival. The story also introduces Zam Wesell, and tells how Jango obtained his ship, Slave I.
In early 2007, I began capturing gameplay footage, and compiling more material for the Special Features section of the DVD. The goal was to assemble a fulll-length movie, combining ILM's pre-rendered cinematic cut scenes from the first release, cut scenes from the actual game engine, and gameplay footage, so that the complete story of "Star Wars: Bounty Hunter" could be told.
MoveAlong edited my captured footage together into a full-length movie. This edit preserves the game's widescreen cut scenes and full screen gameplay footage in their original aspect ratios, and is included on disc one of this upcoming release as "The Purist Cut."
MoveAlong eventually concluded that he wouldn't be able to finish the project. ThrowgnCpr offered to collaborate with me to complete it. His first contribution was to create an additional edit of the main feature, converting all the gameplay footage of the original edit to widescreen format for a more movie-like experience. This edit is included on disc two of this release as "The Cinematic Cut."
I compiled far more bonus material for this project than was included on the original release. Disc three includes special features such as alternate endings, outtakes, trailers, behind the scenes documentaries and interviews, slideshows, character profiles, mission briefings, and a huge DVD-ROM archive.
ThrowgnCpr is now completing the authoring of this collection's three DVD's.
I'm very grateful to both MoveAlong and ThrowgnCpr for collaborating with me on this project (that has been over six years in the making). I'll update this thread as work progresses. Thanks for your interest!

OT's bucketbotSaw "the Devourer of Worlds" post in the Star Wars Revisited thread and had to check out his own thread. ;) This project sounds very cool! Any updates on version 2.0? I'd love to see it someday!

Devourer of WorldsHi Ripplin...work on 2.0 continues. MoveAlong sent me his first draft edit of the movie several weeks back, and he really did a fantastic job. After some discussion, I requested a couple of tweaks and very minor changes. Once that is done, the movie portion of the DVD will be complete. Then work will begin on the menu design, authoring, etc. I've gotten some nice new footage for the special features section in the last few months, so we really have a lot of new material for this release. Thanks for your interest!

Padawan LearnerI'm looking forward to the final release. I've been hyped since I read about the project last year. I've been holding off on downloading V.1.0 because I know this version is going to rock. Quick question. Is this going to be realesed as both a DVD9 and DVD4 or only DVD9?

Camaro MulletDVD-9. The DVD-ROM portion and special features are so stout that dual layer is the only option. It's actually going to be a struggle to get it all to fit onto a DVD-9...

Padawan LearnerThank you. I need to put some DVD9s on the shoping list. Besides this release I want to grab Wookie Groomer's Addicted to SW.
Just a thought, but have you considered spreading V 2.0 onto two discs? One disc for the feature and another for the Speacial Features.

Camaro MulletNo, there will only be one disc authored for this project. Thanks for the interest and I hope I'll be able to actually get this thing done someday...

Camaro MulletHopefully, I'll be able to get things completed by spring time (North America). The edit is practically complete. I just need to author the DVD, which shouldn't take more than a couple of months once I can get started. Just been real busy with life...

Devourer of WorldsAs MoveAlong said, the edit is basically complete. I think the different kinds of footage (cinematics, game engine cut scenes, and gameplay) edited together works very well as a movie. MoveAlong was very meticulous with his editing, and addressed several technical issues while working with my captures.
The length of time we've been working on this has really been a blessing in disguise. It's allowed me to tweak and refine a lot of aspects of the project, and I've continued to find new clips for the Special Features section. If you're a fan of the game, I think you'll find some really cool stuff here. :)

Wait for me. I shall be merciful and quick.Sounds awesome. Perhaps....after you've completed this project you would maybe think about a Force Unleashed movie?

Bounty hunter is one of the few games I haven't traded in for money, & would definitely like to see this as a movie project.
