Starwars FAN, I am selling my one and only 500 made RN-561 box set of STAR WARS
1977 4 Track John Williams & Cast and also by GEORGE LUCAS by 20th century fox.
"The Story Of Star Wars" on 4-Track 7 1/2 IPS reel-to-reel tapes, recorded on March 5-16, 1977, Burbank Ca.
additional photo booklet and an opening night program.
To promote Star Wars in 1977, some radio stations were given a box set package from Twentieth Century, including a reel-to-reel tape. Featuring the music of John Williams and the story of Star Wars with the original actor’s voices, these two tapes are really a blast from the past. Includes a 16-page photo booklet and a fold-out information opening sheet relegating a dissertation by John Williams on his approach to the music of the film and how he came about it, a story synopsis, a scene-by-scene breakdown of the tracks on the reels synopsis, characters, actors, and music per track.
The tapes and promo material are in very good condition

Jedi KnightI have two copies one played and in pretty poor condition, and One with the reels unused with the tabs still on them and stored perfectly for almost thirty years.
The guy Originally wanted 500.00 dollars for it, but He brought the price down to 250.00 so I bought it. I think the guy calls himself tahoe toys, being a toy seller of star wars figs, and transformers etc.
The pretty heavily used one was 65.00 bucks from Cloudcity.com so I guess you get what you pay for.
I've seen other one's still in their original mailing box go for a lot of money, still none of them have appeared on the market as unopened.
There are some rare radio ad reels for star wars, and the empire strikes back interview reels or lp are out there if that is what you mean by radio stations.

IN 1977 I WAS WORKING FOR CADILLAC STORE MY CUSTOMER WAS THE
C.E.O OF UNIVERSAL STUDIOS AND THE SETS WERE GIVEN TO ME.

Jedi Knightjust wanted to point out to anyone interested that the old style analog machines like the teac, are very expensive if you can find one in working order.
Also these reel to reel tapes on magnetic can be very brittle and also warp in storage.
Just a heads up not a buyer beware.
I am sure their are perfect copies out there.

I recently purchased this set on Ebay still sealed. It just seemed like a pretty cool collector's item. I don't know if I dare open it. Would the sound on these be any better than LP or CD? I'd really like to have these transfered to find out.

legendary but little-known Jedi MasterHmm, it just occurred to me that if these are really 4-track, that could be interesting. My Teac could probably grab all four tracks, which might make for an interesting resource for someone wanting to make their own surround mix. Unless by 4-track they just mean stereo in each direction.

These are four track, but it might just be two channel. I should probably at least open it to see the condition inside. Are there albums that utilized four channels on reel-to-reel?

monkey eccentricAnyone that has these reels *needs* to have them baked before playing them. Otherwise, the oxide will start shedding, and likely ruin your tape(s) and certainly gum-up the playback heads.

Will be malfunctioning within a day.I won this set on eBay for $65, and it's a neat item to have. It's one of those things that if a fellow fan spots it, they gotta know what it is and a conversation is started. I plan on transferring them as soon as I can locate a decent reel to reel deck.
Star Wars is the only case in modern film history where the preservation of the original award-winning version has been left up to the fans. That fact alone proves that Lucas is insane.

legendary but little-known Jedi MasterIf it's 4 separate tracks and you can't find someone that can pull out all four tracks, let me know because, if skyjedi is right, I have the deck that it was made for and can capture the 4 tracks separately.
