My Canadian best buy disc is coming on Saturday. That will complete my extras. :)
Hi DFNYC,
How's it coming along? Were you planning on sharing this project when complete?
Cheers

Will be malfunctioning within a day.The only help I could offer would be bandwidth in getting this out. The computer I am borrowing can't even play anything higher than 720p and still has problems. It's last OS was WinXP! So, again, I can share the cable connection and not much of anything else. I would really love to get my hands on a complete set of extras for this fiasco!
Star Wars is the only case in modern film history where the preservation of the original award-winning version has been left up to the fans. That fact alone proves that Lucas is insane.

Jedi KnightFor the disc, does everyone need the Target stuff AND the Best Buy? Or just the BB and the enhanced commentary?

For me, the Best Buy content is the tricky one to get hold of.

Padawan LearnerMy understanding is the exclusive Target bonus features come on a separate disc that you get when you buy the 3-disc collector's edition in stores, and the Best Buy bonus features are available online via live streaming with the CinemaNow service, which you can only access by buying the exclusive Best Buy collector's version of Into Darkness. The Best Buy bonus features can also be found on a bonus disc, but it is only available internationally from Best Buy Canada (when I went to their website, they wouldn't even offer an option to ship to the US). I don't know if these bonus discs are blu-ray or standard definition DVDs. The "Enhanced Commentary" version of the movie on itunes can be purchased separately as a 5GB download, or can be accessed via a download code from the Target bonus disc (you still have to download the 5GB file though).
Anyway, it sounds like some of the posters here have already gathered all these bonus features together from different sources, and ripped them to video files on their home computer. (no way am I spending over $100 and going on scavenger hunt for all this stuff, that's why this thread was created!). Who is going to start creating menus and branching for a custom made bonus DVD? The actual blu-ray menu for the movie is fairly easy to come by, you can find it on youtube and I've already ripped it to my computer. I also have the deleted shower scene if anyone wants that file.

Speaking for myself, I would appreciate a comprehensive all-inclusive release. I have the UK Blu with the regular featurettes, but I still think having everything in one place is sexier.
I appreciate the work you put into this. Many thanks.

This would be cool. I have the US Wal-Mart 3D/Blu/DVD package but would like everything in 1 go-to disc if possible.

Jedi KnightWell, at this point, it looks like I'm going to have to re-encode the commentary, which sucks ass.

I only took one class in DVD authoring (and that was for regular DVDs, not blu rays), so I'm confused how all of this works for copying blu-ray files. When you assemble the disc, it is going to have all the features together in HD, and end up something like a 50GB download? If so, I would prefer just a regular (4.35GB or 8GB) standard definition ISO that I can burn to a regular DVD disc. It should be pretty easy to export the HD files and render them out as much smaller, SD mp4 files, right?
I finally got around to buying a blu-ray player for Christmas, but I don't have a blu-ray burner, and I like to have a backup copy of everything on DVD so I can take the disc with me and play it for friends (my blu-ray player is stuck at home in my living room). Plus it's far quicker to and easier to download something under 10GB to my computer.
Is it possible to create both a HD version and SD version of the same disc?

I'm not sure what I could do with the m2ts files. If someone had all the bonus content from the three sources converted to either MP4, MKV, AVI, MPEG, etc. files and torrented them together as a download, I could probably create my own custom bonus disc. (I really think the enhanced commentary should be on a separate disc with the movie itself, and all the other stuff on disc 2) That would be ideal for me.

I have some of the bonus features ripped, which I could help assist with anyone who's tackling the collective compilation.

Have you got the Canadian Best But extras? They are the only ones I have missing.
