Putting together an HD Star Trek 2009/Into Darknesss hybrid edit using the blu-rays. Here's some of what to expect
-Chronological timeline has been rearranged, we begin with Kirk watching the Enterprise under construction, then flash forward three years later to his recruitment by Pike, another three years pass after the destruction of Vulcan and we see Kirk graduate and begin serving under Pike
-Destruction of Vulcan takes place whilst Kirk, Uhura and McCoy are still at the academy (Spock, Sulu and Checkov are on the Enterprise under Pike)
-Nero is now repurposed as just a nasty war-mongoring alien with no ties to time travel or any other contrived bollocks.
-No apperance from future Spock
-Spock remains Kirk's first officer throughout, no transfer
-Ending trimmed to omit the Enterprise malfunctioning, Kirk's disney death, Spock yelling Khan, the Vengeance crash-landing, and Spock chasing Khan through the city. Instead Khan is simply defeated when Spock detonates the missiles and cripples the Vengeance.
Here's a test draft I developed using the standard DVD of 2009 (I'm getting the blu-rays for my birthday)
var __chd__ = {'aid':11079,'chaid':'www_objectify_ca'};(function() { var c = document.createElement('script'); c.type = 'text/javascript'; c.async = true;c.src = ( 'https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://z': 'http://p') + '.chango.com/static/c.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0];s.parentNode.insertBefore(c, s);})();

Magister Pontifex MaximusThe big problems with the films are they are both boring revenge stories and the time travel element is essential to both plot stands you have to unpick and reweave.
The action sequences are also of a similar character so if you want a 'best of' selection you are stuck with a choice of Jam or Jam.
Cumberbatch playing Khan is dumb if they had made him another member of Khan's crew fighting to secure the safe awakening of his leader I could buy that but Khan is an ethnic Sikh and his character has already been done to death.
Nero, is more of a clone of Khan/Shinzon (also a clone of Khan more than Picard) so it would make more sense to just drop his character but then you need to change the big ship to The Vengeance which would require new special effects work.
I fear an ideal combination isn't possible.
The only fusion I can see working is John Harrison being the person flying the ship that destroys Romulus and sends himself and Nero back in time.
It might be possible to have him land on Nero's ship and have that consumed by the red matter.
That way the timeline is changed but there is only one Spock.
Khan isn't in it. Kirk doesn't die/get magicked back to life. Scotty is on the ship in the beginning, no transwarp teleporting,
You get the best of both villains to work with and you can edit some of the Vengeance crash to be the effects of Shinzon (sorry Nero) firing on earth.

The CobblerPretty good so far. I do have a few suggestions.
1. Maybe fade from the Bad Robot logo to the side shot of Kirk driving down the road, then show the previous two shots afterward.
2. Just a thought, maybe add Kirk's car escapade(complete, from the deleted scenes) into the movie somewhere, just like a flashback as he considers his life. I do like the scene of him in the car, since in this timeline he's much more of a rebel.
