"Don't you mean "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" by Philip K. Dick? "

No...those books are nowhere near the same thing.

You're not missing much.

"I just polished off Stephen King's Gunslinger and I've started S.K.'s Insomnia 3 days ago."

I got bored with the Gunslinger series, and King's books have been getting harder and harder to get through.

Actually, they are exactly the same book. Maybe the movie isn't the same. But if you were to buy a book with the title "Blade Runner" on the cover, you would see that it is the same book as Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? My copy of DADOES by PKD actually has the Blade Runner movie poster on the cover.

There's something I never thought I'd here: Somebody bad-mouthing "The Hobbit" on the internet!

Hey, I think for myself, what can I say?

I wanted to read the LOTR series, and thought starting with "The Hobbit" would be a good idea. I am no stranger to reading large books, but I found it a tedious read. To be honest, I'm more of a sci-fi fan, than a fantasy fan, and in that vein....

There was a post- Blade Runner novel released a few years back, which is what may have MeBeJedi confused. That being said, it would be completely possible to make another film out of DADOES and have it resemble Blade Runner very little.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Are Isaac Isomov's robot novels any good? I enjoyed the I, Robot flick.

I never read Heir. Barnes and Noble didn't have it so I started with Dark Force Rising.

I first got Heir at a library sale for like a buck when I was ten and not as big into Star Wars as I soon would be, I left it on the shelf for a few years before I actually read it, and within the course of 3 years after that I read over 101 Star Wars novels. The only thing keeping me back was the NJO publication dates.

About 40 percent of them were a waste of paper.

So I've heard. I just didn't realize there were so many. I still haven't finished a single SW Novel since The Unifying Force late last year.

I started Shatter Point, I Jedi, Spintler of the Minds Eye, and Survivor's Quest, but I just can't get into them.

I couldn't ever get into Splinter either, I just read the Graphic Novel.

For that I'd need to be over 18 and have a credit/charge/check card, right?[/ q]

Also, on topic, I am reading The Great Gatsby. Anyone here have an opinion of that book?

Seen the movie.

If I could sum the book up briefly, it would be

"Pointless and depressing, yet oddly entertaining."

I assume that you're referring to Gatsby, right? I'd agree, to a point.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Yeah. Gatsby.

Why did he have a different last name than his father? Did that make sense to anyone?

I'm doing the Sin City books. I'm not really a big comic guy, but they're fairly enjoyable. I'm boning up for the movie basically for this week..

The movie isn't really worth it. It doesn't suck per se, but it is way overrated.

I think it was different, which counts for a lot these days with me. We're too often being force-fed (no pun intended) the latest car chase/bang-bang/idiot teen comedy every other week. You could make the case that SC is quite violent, but it was done well (IMO).

Plus he is not a Frank Miller fan, that has to account for some distate towards the movie.
