Screencaps might help.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won't last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you'll be able to project it on a 20' by 40' screen with perfect quality. I think it's the director's prerogative, not the studio's to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I thought Star Tours was being shut down since the flim is literally disentragting, so with no new stock DisneyLand Sol Cal was shutting it down.

Ô_o No. In fact just a few weeks ago they began shooting for the new segments. It's getting a makeover.

Yeah, I read now that it was one of the reason for the make over.

this is turning into a fantastic project.  can't wait to see what comes of it.

Absolutely! When I saw the lists of what the Alex and Aaron discs have, I was amazed. And hey, if it has Gil Gerard on it, you know it must be good! ;)

They make new prints of ride films on a regular basis. (But probably run them to death.) There is more than one copy around! The original negatives ought to be sitting in a vault at Disney or ILM.

It's a safe bet the ride makeover will put in HDTV screens and be able to switch "destinations", so I doubt the original footage will vanish completely either.

I gave someone on here a copy of my capture of the Gil Gerard special several years back. Wonder if that's what out there now?

Where were you in '77?

I hope that you're right about that whole "switch destinations" thing SilverWook, would be interesting to see that the original ride could still be around.

From a business perspective, it would also be great for Disney, as now people would go thru three or four times in the same day to try and see all the destinations, as opposed to going thru once.

My outlook on life - we're all on the Hindenburg anyway...no point fighting over the window seat.

I saw the ride in 1998, it was the best part of my only trip to California! I'd love to see this DVD when its completed.

Just wanted to let everybody know that I have finally managed to put Aaron's excellent Star Tours DVD up on MySpleen.

Don't forget that the 'Spleen has changed addresses, and is now at a .cc domain.

I was just wondering if anybody can post this to the newsgroups.  I myself, like Chrno, do not have access to myspleen.  Newsgroup posting would be greatly appreciated.

Excellent cover, AvP! Simple, and to the point. I highly approve. I'm nominating this to be the official cover, and if amsnyder agrees then we can make it so.
