of Earth.Are there shields in Star Wars? It certainly seems so. But it seems, according to the movies, that no fighter craft actually have them, right?
I know X-Wing the game "canonized" the "X-Wings have shields, TIEs don't" (Because sometimes you feel like a shield- sometimes you don't.)
Han Solo likes to "angle his deflector shields" right? So I presume the MF has shields. Is it the smallest thing in the OT to have shields?

Is there ever a visual indication in the OT of shields being hit? Or an otherwise direct hit being "deflected"?

aka PancakesNo, I don't think shields ever show up visually in a Star Wars film (with the possible exception of the prequels). Even the Death Star II's Endor shield isn't shown visually, with the exception of in the hologram during the Rebel briefing.
But the Falcon, X-wings, and Star Destroyers all definitely have shields, with evidence from the films to back that up.

This. Actually there are several instances where you can see lasers hitting shields if you watch closely. (blockade runner and falcon in ANH, falcon in ESB) Where the lasers hit the shields it makes a small explosion just above the surface of the ship.
