I still don't understand how they got Jabba's eye color wrong for the '04 release.

Now here's a question I've been wanting to ask, are we missing frames from the Han/Greedo scene? I remember way back there used to be a website that compared all the changes from the OUT with the then new '97 SE. For the Han/Greedo scene he pointed out how they messed up the compositing of Han's blaster bolt going through the table and was now going over it. But now when I watch that scene I don't see that shot anywhere at all!

They got almost everything wrong with Jabba with 2004 version (it's arguable that anything would have been better than the 1997 monstrosity).

The skin tone is almost a universal mustard, the lighting is way too dark, the skin texture (which didn't look too bad in the bright light of TPM scenes) is too hard (not the flabby toad of ROTJ).

His matte jaundiced eyes are just the topping on the cake.

I'm pretty sure they could have worked a better solution to the tail problem too if they tried harder.

I'm still not convinced by the scale either which was pretty good in TPM but somehow still looks a bit too small in the 2004 SE with these eyes.

They simply did the one thing no one wanted: they made it worse.

I think some people wanted it,(just as some people wanted the cocoon sequence in Alien) the main problem with the Jabba scene is it's really pointless with the current subtitles.

A creative writer would have written new lines for Jabba which still matched what Han replied but said something other than what the Greedo scene had already done better (well before cutting that scene's balls off at least).

It does bugger up the Falcon reveal but that's only an issue in a world without OUT being freely available and treated with at least the same respect as the SE.

In the world we live in where that is the only version most people are allowed to have it is a bit of limp introduction to the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.

It also continued the trend started with ROTJ of having the Fetts not bounty hunters but general minders which in my view weakens the mystique of the guy/s.

I don't believe the 2004 Jabba is the TPM Jabba. Thats bullshit. They look nothing alike. The TPM Jabba looked and was coloured like him, the 2004 Jabba is something completely different.

Going back to the Han/Greedo scene. I was looking at the two on youtube and the gout is missing that shot but it's there for the SE. So did the SE add a shot (where they make Han dodge Greedo's blast) or is the gout missing something?

Greedo never shot in the OOT.  That should answer your question.

Looking frame-by-frame, Han fires at Greedo twice: the 04 shot as Greedo shoots and the 97 shot a couple of frames later (which is the one that hits since the 04 bolt disappears instantly). I lost my screenshots of that, but it was very enlightening to me on how they made it "better". msycamore, can you get shots of that?

Here is a subtle fx-correction made in the '04 DVD.

In this shot when three Y-wings fly in a formation, one of the Y-wings suddenly disappear before going out of frame, this was finally corrected in the '04 DVD.

I think all the wipes in the film was also redone, am I right? I'm not entirely sure if Luke's lightsaber was recomposited or not, it sure looks like it in some shots. I know they redid the training remote though. Have I missed any change? Maybe someone can fill in the rest if there is any.

Also, I must clarify so there isn't any misunderstanding, most of the SE caps I posted is from the '04DVD even though I wrote '97 on them. I wrote it that way, cause it will reflect what year the changes was done, not the year of the transfer. But I'm sure you already got that. ;)

Sooo, I'm basically calling the website open for business. All of the major pieces are there, and I think the formatting and text has been cleaned up so that it looks basically complete. Tell your friends. :p

Two pages are listed as coming soon: a screen materials page, and a media contact page. The first is being worked on now, plus another editorial on why the GOUT sucks, which will be the last editorial until new news breaks, but the second I am bit stumped on. Any contacts and suggestions here would be appreciated.

The other thing I would like to do is add a newsletter subscription, to just send a text email when there is a major site update or any relevant news. There are tutorials out there, but .CGI-bin stuff is a bit over my head. Does anyone here know how to do this stuff so thats its simple enough for a bonehead like me to use it?

I definately think with the loss of the official change list we should recreate it and complete it. Maybe not for savestarwars, but I don't want to let msycamore's work go unnoticed. Just saying.

I plan on including it on my page of SE changes. I have links to your page only temporarily, because re-doing everything from scratch is a huge undertaking and this is fine until I get around to that.

So did the SE add a shot or was the GOUT censored? I personally would lean toward them censoring this shot because of that site I mentioned before that noted Han's bolt going over the table instead of through it. Thoughts?

The GOUT is not censored, the original scene have always been just like that, the SE just replaced the dummy with that wide shot of them as seen in your caps. I think the SE also trimmed a few frames from the original before or after I don't remember.

That dummy Greedo cracks me up!

I don't know, I think a description of it serve it better in this scene than comparison pictures between '97SE and the '04DVD as it's most the timing that is different between them, and the lack of the "Yes..." in Solo's line. But I can try to capture the difference if you really want me to.
