Jedi KnightIn time for Comic-con:
Will it be the SE? And either way will it be shut-down by Lucasfilm? I'm guessing yes on both counts but you never know.

Child is the Father of the ManThe fact that this ad implies that it's coming from a digital source pretty much assures that it's the SE. I doubt a restaurant in Hillcrest is just going to happen to have a film projector, anyway; the area is just packed with trendy clubs, so I can't imagine this space being too large.

Summer of 69erI doubt they'd fire up the GOUT on those HDTVs of theirs, so unless they're going with a fan edit, it's all but sure they're going with one of the SEs.

My Heather Langenkamp avatar has decided to go on an extended vacation and may not be back for sometime. Not to worry, though, for she will be back - eventually.

Well, personally, I have my thoughts against Lucasfilm having the ability to shut down a harmless showing of the greatest film of all time...but it probably will be of some Special Edition version so...SHUT IT DOWN!! lol
A part of me secretly sees George and his boys leaving the showing alone if its the 2011 Blu Ray version, but suing and shutting down the restaurant down permanently if it was (somehow) the original '77. I guess I just don't see George as a good person anymore...
-Someone, someday, needs to bring back the LIGHT SIDE to Star Wars. Has anyone else noticed striking similarites between the character of Anakin/Vader and George Lucas, or is it just me?
-It's called STAR WARS. NOT "Episode IV: A New Hope". Kids, get this straight.
-Please read the Archie Goodwin daily SW comics: Too good to be forgotten!

Jedi KnightLast year Lucasfilm shut down a screening at a bar, and it was the SE. They weren't charging admission or anything, but LFL said it was illegal. It's a bit grey but usually not a problem. Pizza shops and bars often have TVs for sports, movies, whatever--a great pizza shop I used to go to had AMC on all the time, so I got to eat really good pizza and watch classic movies. Lucasfilm are really generous sometimes and other times they are complete assholes.

Interesting. In what ways have they been atypically generous?

There have been more SW Musical adaptations in the last few years.
Sometimes artists produce something related and Lucasfilm gets wind of it and they bring those people into the fold (the forthcoming SW comic art book) or smaller things like:

I wrote about A New Hope the poster from Ironic Sans a couple of weeks ago and mentioned that it was not a T-Shirt yet due to fears of Lucas Film retribution, well I’m happy to tell you that they are now being sold through Zazzle and with Lucus Film blessing

The continued existance of the site for one. A lawyer could shut this place down in the matter of a day, and possibly prosecute many of us. It wouldn't be right, but the US justice system is a farce once corporate interests are at stake.

Whenever I read Brian Daley's Han Solo books, The Corporate Sector Authority always makes me think of the possible future of the US. :(
