SW Rebels News & Art

My friend linked me to this article showing some concept art for the new Disney animated TV show "Star Wars Rebels":

I admit that it's hard to judge from one pic, but it's like X-Wing Alliance's "Otana" with ... I dunno, McQuarrie-esque domes?

I like it.  It's a good mash-up of various influences.

Would you rather have another universe shrinker like the Falcon being owned by someone who fought in the early days of the Rebellion?

Easy to forget most people in the SW universe don't see the Falcon like we do. Modifications aside, it's not a unique design.

Of course not. I'd rather see them come up with a new idea in the universe rather than basically rehashing the idea of the falcon (a cargo ship with a band of friends traipsing around the galaxy on adventures). It's been done a dozen times already. And don't get me wrong, traipsing around the galaxy on adventures is great. It just seem like they could come up with something new and original to accomplish that rather than yet again using the cargo ship formula. It cheapens the original falcon, much like having all the dark Jedi/sith named Darth these days...

I've always liked that little ship. Maybe the Rebels ship is a homage?

I knew that design looked familiar as I saw the image of the Ghost at CE II.
